About This Role:

As the Head of Source-to-Pay Technology, you will lead the IT function responsible for technology strategy, delivery, support, and lifecycle management across the Procurement and Source-to-Pay technology landscape. The successful candidate will bring deep experience managing enterprise applications, integrations, data, controls, delivery teams, and business stakeholders who depend on Source-to-Pay capabilities.

You will be a partner with Procurement, Finance, Global Business Services, Data, and Technology teams to translate business process needs into scalable, sustainable technology solutions. You will shape roadmaps, guide investment decisions, manage systems integrators and technology partners, and ensure Procurement technology capabilities are reliable, compliant, supportable, and aligned with business priorities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Own the technology strategy, roadmap, delivery, support, and lifecycle management for Procurement and Source-to-Pay platforms.
  • Partner with Procurement, Finance, GBS, Legal, Compliance, and other business stakeholders to translate business priorities and Source-to-Pay process needs into scalable technology solutions.
  • Lead the Source-to-Pay technology portfolio, including sourcing, contracting, supplier management, purchasing, invoicing, approvals, integrations, reporting, and analytics capabilities.
  • Drive technology investments and portfolio planning, including business cases, budgeting, value realization, and alignment with enterprise objectives.
  • Establish and govern demand management, prioritization, solution decisions, enhancement backlogs, and platform lifecycle planning across the Procurement technology landscape.
  • Lead cross-functional technology teams, including product owners, business analysts, architects, engineers, support resources, and systems integration partners.
  • Oversee end-to-end solution delivery and technical execution, including architecture, configuration, integrations, testing, data migration, release management, controls, and operational readiness.
  • Ensure operational excellence and service quality across global Procurement technology platforms, including reliability, supportability, performance, compliance, and continuous improvement.
  • Ensure Procurement technology solutions are secure, scalable, compliant, and aligned with enterprise architecture, data standards, and regulatory/SOX requirements.
  • Manage strategic relationships with technology vendors, managed service providers, and systems integration partners, ensuring accountability for delivery, service levels, and business outcomes.

Who You Are:

You are an IT leader who understands Procurement and Source-to-Pay business processes, with a core strength of leading technology teams and enterprise application portfolios. You can operate strategically with senior Procurement, Finance, and GBS stakeholders while also understanding the technical work required to deliver reliable, integrated, compliant platforms.

You know how to shape strategy, make investment trade-offs, manage demand, guide technical teams, hold systems integrators accountable, and sustain platforms after go-live. You bring enough process fluency to challenge and advise the business, but your professional foundation is IT delivery, application ownership, and technology leadership.

Required Skills:

  • BA or BS in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business, Engineering, or related field.
  • 12+ years of progressive IT experience, including direct accountability for enterprise application delivery, support, roadmap ownership, and stakeholder management.
  • Demonstrated experience as an IT leader supporting Procurement, Source-to-Pay, Procure-to-Pay, Finance, GBS, Supply Chain, or similar enterprise business functions.
  • Hands-on leadership experience with Source-to-Pay or related enterprise platforms such as Coupa, Ariba, SAP, Oracle ERP, CLM, supplier management, workflow, analytics, integration, or reporting platforms.
  • Experience managing large systems integration partners, managed service providers, and technology vendors.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience owning or leading the strategy, roadmap, implementation, enhancement portfolio, and support model for Source-to-Pay platforms such as Coupa, Ariba, SAP, Oracle ERP, CLM, or related solutions.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance strategic technology leadership with technical execution across enterprise application portfolios.
  • Experience modernizing Source-to-Pay technology ecosystems through process digitization, workflow automation, analytics, platform rationalization, and AI-enabled solutions.
  • Experience designing and managing integrations between Source-to-Pay platforms, ERP systems, finance applications, supplier ecosystems, and enterprise data platforms.
  • Experience leading global technology teams, matrixed delivery organizations, and large systems integration partners.
  • Experience managing technology investments, business cases, budgets, and enterprise application portfolios.
  • Experience operating in SOX-controlled and highly regulated life sciences environments.
  • MBA, MS, or other advanced degree preferred.

  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
