What is Midpage?

Midpage is the legal search engine quietly powering the largest AI and legal technology companies in the world. 300+ law firms use our products. 200k visitors read cases on Midpage every month. 5 multibillion-dollar organizations including Perplexity trust us as their legal data supplier. Our ARR has 10x’d to 3M in the past few months.

Our team of 8 is based in SoHo. We’re engineers and former litigators. Our marketing to date has been minimal and at times sloppy. We are looking for someone to change that. You don’t need a legal background.

The role

As Head of Marketing, you’ll design and own every aspect of the marketing function at Midpage.

You should have:

  • Experience at a world-class, growth-stage startup

  • Taste and judgment about messaging and design

  • Proof of your impact

  • Confidence and ability to get things done before there is a team around you

What you’ll do:

  • Write copy for our website, announcements, product launches, social posts

  • Build a steady source of qualified conversations

  • Find the places where AI labs, law firms, and legal-data buyers already pay attention, and figure out how Midpage should show up

  • Tell us what needs to change

Legal tech is having its moment. Every day there is a new AI-native law firm, a new crop of YC startups setting out to change the practice of law, new legal products launched by OpenAI and Anthropic. We’re already touching every aspect of the industry, and we’re looking for someone to help us let people know.

This is an in-person role at our office in SoHo, NYC. Compensation is $170K - $200K plus equity and benefits.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
