Your future team
This is a remote position. To help our teams work together effectively, this role requires you to be located in the Eastern Australian time zone or the United States Pacific time zone.
The Atlassian Foundation is a global team with 25+ members based in Australia, India, USA and the Philippines.
We're hiring a Head of Foundation, reporting to our Chief Sustainability Officer. Here, you'll oversee all aspects of implementing the Foundation's mission to unleash the potential of social impact teams - those teams changing lives through education.

  • We back social impact teams with a powerful combination of Atlassian's funding, people, and product & practices to help them collaborate to achieve their missions.
  • We maintain a focus on Education change makers to help young people from under-resourced communities build the skills they need to work and succeed.
  • We empower Atlassians to be the change they seek, through a scalable, incentive-driven approach to volunteering and giving.
  • We revolutionize corporate philanthropy by motivating and supporting businesses to embed social impact into their DNA through the Pledge 1% movement we co-founded.


What you'll do

  • Ensure the Foundation is on path to achieve our mission to unleash the potential of social impact teams through strategy development and execution.
  • Provide expertise across programs and operational priorities to ensure they achieve desired goals and that impact is measured and understood.
  • Provide oversight of all of the administrative, governance and operational responsibilities of the Foundation. Specifically direct resources and manage financials within budget guidelines and according to current laws and regulations, taking responsibility for the fiscal integrity of the Foundation.
  • Ensure collaboration between the Foundation team and partners, including the Atlassian Foundation Board and the broad Atlassian Leadership Group.
  • Support, develop and encourage the Foundation Leadership Group and broader Foundation team, overseeing hiring, development and performance management.
  • Represent the Foundation internally across Atlassian and externally at events, conferences and partnership meetings.


Your background

  • 15 years of experience within philanthropy, the nonprofit, or international development sector including managing a team of managers and overseeing team budgets
  • Experience influencing others, including encouraging strategic partnerships, building support for strategies, and articulating a clear vision to team members
  • A problem solver mindset, coaching others to develop creative solutions and guiding implementation to support team members with delivery
  • Experience with innovation, understanding the latest trends that can be translated into new strategies and solutions, and encouraging others to openly share new ideas.
  • Knowledge of current market trends, corporate foundations, education, new issues (e.g. AI) that promotes innovation in strategic decision-making
  • Ability to build partnerships with Atlassians and business leaders by communicating collaboration opportunities with the Foundation and inspiring others into action
  • Expert ability to go from high-level strategy development to the detail of implementation plans and overseeing project portfolio roadmaps
  • Data-driven mindset to evaluate the effectiveness of the portfolio against establishedperformance metrics that take into account both impact toward mission and execution efficiency


Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $234,600 - $312,800
Zone B: $211,200 - $281,600
Zone C: $194,700 - $259,700
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
