About the role
We are seeking a strategic sourcing team leader for Professional Services Category Management. In this role, you will be responsible for developing and implementing sourcing strategies across diverse professional services categories.
Job Description
In this role, you will report to the Head of Strategic Sourcing and join Atlassian's global procurement team, which comprises a high-performing and collaborative group of professionals. You will lead a team of dedicated Strategic Sourcing Managers who are focused on engaging with business stakeholders and suppliers. Your team will evaluate and develop sourcing strategies to maximize efficiency and cost optimization while ensuring high-quality business outcomes.
As the leader of the procurement team, the Sourcing Team Lead will collaborate with various stakeholders at all levels throughout Atlassian to propose cross-functional opportunities that will enable Atlassian's procurement organization to expand and meet the company's increasing requirements.
You will possess an analytical and detail-oriented mindset and utilize your extensive expertise in sourcing and category management to navigate the constantly evolving commercial requirements of a dynamic, fast-growing company. Your exceptional written and verbal communication skills will be employed to enhance clarity and efficiency throughout our end-to-end sourcing process, establishing you as a trusted business partner.

  • We are seeking a candidate with exceptional leadership skills who can effectively attract, mentor, cultivate and retain a varied and skilled group of strategic sourcing experts.
  • Develop and implement procurement strategies for professional services that align with organizational goals and objectives.
  • Design and oversee a comprehensive professional services category strategy and roadmap to enhance the maturity level of our sourcing process by streamlining operations and improving efficiencies.
  • Foster a cohesive team culture, promote collaboration in the workplace, align with procurement objectives to achieve success, and prioritize career growth and development.
  • Support the development of a responsible procurement program, including cost optimization, competitive bidding and a team's key metrics against OKRs.
  • Share market intelligence, conduct market analysis, and benchmark to anticipate price fluctuations for potential sourcing opportunities and risks.
  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, suppliers, and senior executives to understand and influence all commercial aspects of risks.
  • Ensure that suppliers meet performance expectations, deliver value, and comply with contractual obligations.

  • Proven work experience as a sourcing manager and category manager with a focus on professional services.
  • Ability to create and execute strategic sourcing and category strategies that result in cost reduction, enhanced supplier performance, and reduced risks.
  • Confident in a rapidly growing, fast paced and changing environment
  • Excellent leadership, influencing, and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent verbal, written communications and presentation skills

On your first day, we'll expect you to have:

  • BS/BA degree
  • 10+ years of experience within procurement and/or supply chain
  • Experienced people leader with the ability to lead, motivate, and develop a high-performing sourcing team.
  • Demonstrated exceptional leadership skills with the ability to work collaboratively, and create and drive vision within and across organizations
  • Deep understanding of software and cloud services, associated business models, and technology industry trends
  • In-depth understanding of procurement best practices, principles, and techniques, as well as relevant laws and regulations.
  • History of partnering well with senior leaders to develop a culture of getting to "yes"
  • Focus on achieving the organization's financial and operational goals.
  • This position operates 100% remote environment, with occasional travel to company events or supplier sites.
  • The role requires the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.


Compensation
At Atlassian, we strive to design equitable, explainable, and competitive compensation programs. To support this goal, the baseline of our range is higher than that of the typical market range, but in turn we expect to hire most candidates near this baseline. Base pay within the range is ultimately determined by a candidate's skills, expertise, or experience. In the United States, we have three geographic pay zones. For this role, our current base pay ranges for new hires in each zone are:
Zone A: $151,700 - $202,300
Zone B: $136,600 - $182,100
Zone C: $125,900 - $167,900
This role may also be eligible for benefits, bonuses, commissions, and equity.
