OBJECTIVES/PURPOSE:
- Participate in providing Japan Medical Affairs (JMA) leadership to drive the development and implementation of the evidence generation plan in alignment with the asset, indication, JOBU organization
- Lead the JOBU Evidence Generation team in successful and efficient execution of deliverables.
- Lead and oversee all JOBU Evidence Generation projects including medical affairs company sponsored studies (MACS), collaborative research (CR), investigator initiated research (IIR) and phase IV by collaborating with the appropriate internal and external partners.
- Ensures alignment and collaboration with stakeholders, such as Medical Leads within JOBU and across GOBU/OTAU.
ACCOUNTABILITIES:
- Lead and manage the JMA Evidence Generation team; manage team performance, resourcing needs and SOP training assignment.
- Lead and oversee the conduct of the JMA responsible medical affairs company sponsored studies, collaborative research and investigator initiated research.
- Facilitate allignment with internal stakeholders such as Medical Leads, GMAO Evdence Generation, JMO Evidence Generation and external investigators to ensure successful development and execution of JMA Medical Research plans.
- Oversee the development and management of processes applicable to the teams scope of work, develops Evidence Generation strategy and drives implementation of new Evidence Generation related operational process.
- Provide strategic and functional inputs to the development of JMA responsible study / research plans and budgets in collaboration with Medical Leads, alliance partners, and other internal stakeholders.
- Ensure the development of innovative processes and technologies to improve operational efficiencies and reduce overall operating costs.
- Participate in relevant applicable governance committees as applicable
- As a member of Japan Medical Affairs leadership team, champions the operation og evidence generation and provide strategic and functional input.
EDUCATION, BEHAVIOURAL COMPETENCIES AND SKILLS:
- MSc or (preferable) PhD degree in a field related to the life sciences
- Advanced qualification in Evidence-Based Medicine (eg MSc in EBM) preferred.
- 10+ years of experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech industry and/or conducting clinical study in the sponsor and/or CRO setting.
- 3-5 years of proven team leadership experience in a regional or global level within a matrix organization
- Experience in leading cross functional programs / projects.
- Health care business acumen with a comprehensive understanding of the pharmaceutical industry
- Ability to manage stakeholders and build relationships in a regional and global setting
- Ability to work in a virtual team environment with team members of diverse background
- Knowledge of evidence generation/phase IV clinical study methodology and regulatory requirement
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements, internal process/SOPs, available data to drive decision making process
- Excellent written and oral communication skills in a business setting where English is the primary language
- Prior experience in vendor governance and/or working with procurement and contracting function preferred

- Salary Increase: Annually, Bonus Payment: Twice a year
- Working Hours: Headquarters (Osaka/ Tokyo) 9:00-17:30, Production Sites (Osaka/ Yamaguchi) 8:00-16:45, (Narita) 8:30-17:15, Research Site (Kanagawa) 9:00-17:45
- Holidays: Saturdays, Sundays, National Holidays, May Day, Year-End Holidays etc. (approx. 123 days in a year)
