SUMMARY

MARA is seeking a Head of Product Design and UX to lead the experience and design strategy across our expanding product portfolio—spanning inference infrastructure, energy orchestration, and compute efficiency. This is a foundational leadership role responsible for building and scaling a high-performance design function that partners deeply with product, engineering, and operations to shape lovable, effective, and coherent product experiences.

From AI workload deployment interfaces to internal operational tooling and energy market telemetry, you’ll set the bar for usability, accessibility, and visual consistency across all customer and internal-facing surfaces. You’ll lead the creation of unified design systems, user research practices, and prototyping workflows that support rapid iteration and high-impact outcomes.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

· Lead and grow the design and UX function across MARA's product portfolio.

· Collaborate with PMs and engineers to shape end-to-end product experiences that balance technical complexity with clarity and elegance.

· Define and maintain design systems that scale across web UIs, dashboards, internal tools, physical systems and emerging hardware interfaces.

· Establish UX research and testing practices to ensure high-confidence iteration.

· Contribute directly to discovery and design work on key initiatives while building the team.

· Drive consistency, brand alignment, and usability across all user-facing and operator-facing surfaces.

· Act as a thought partner to the executive team on customer experience, product-market fit, and market differentiation.

QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions.

· 10+ years of experience in product design, UX, or interaction design roles.

· At least 2+ years in a design leadership capacity in infrastructure, enterprise, or technical product environments.

· Demonstrated ability to create and scale design systems across multiple surfaces.

· Strong portfolio of work demonstrating interaction design, visual design, and user-centered problem-solving.

· Deep empathy for users ranging from ML engineers and energy operators to internal site managers.

· Proficiency in modern design and prototyping tools.

· Excellent communication, facilitation, and cross-functional leadership skills.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
