Head of Brand

Payments infrastructure · Full-time · Remote-first with travel

Role Overview

There are a million stablecoin companies. No one is the best at everything. Cyclops offers all the benefits of other leading stablecoin platforms (by fully integrating them), while complementing their weaknesses (each of which have many). This only matters if the leaders in the payments industry understand this.

We are looking for a Head of Brand to own how Cyclops establishes itself in the world as the leader in stablecoin solutions for payments companies, across our digital presence, every conference, and every interaction with the payments ecosystem. This is a senior individual contributor role with a mandate to constantly identify, generate and own opportunities to move Cyclops to the #1 position when payments companies work on stablecoin solutions.

To be qualified, you must be a payments industry pro, who understands how these companies operate inside and out, from their partnerships and geographic foci, to their internal processes for decision-making and product development.

You will be responsible for owning thought leadership strategy, grow our digital presence (primarily in terms of SEO and AIO), drive our presence at the top payments conferences worldwide, and ensure that Cyclops is the name that comes up when PSPs, networks, and acquirers think about who they want to build with.

This role requires someone with deep payments experience, who has lived inside of a leading payments company or one of the top platforms they partner with. If you have not worked at a payments orchestrator, PSP, network, acquirer, or a platform whose primary function is foundational to how payments companies operate, this is likely not the right role.

Key Responsibilities
  • Brand — messaging hierarchies, visual systems, tone of voice, and overall positioning. Own and evolve these as Cyclops grows.
  • Thought leadership — content strategy, POV development, white papers, reports, bylines, and executive visibility across the payments press and conference circuit.
  • Field marketing — end-to-end ownership of our presence at payments conferences worldwide. You will know which events to attend, which to skip, how to work the room, how to get the most out of sponsorships, and how to build relationships with event organizers that give Cyclops access others do not have.
  • Digital brand presence — website brand expression, SEO strategy, AIO/GEO positioning, and how Cyclops appears across organic and AI-driven search. You will understand what it means to rank in 2025 and beyond, not just 2019.
  • Marketing analytics — own the measurement framework for brand. You will define what good looks like, track it, and report it clearly to leadership.
  • Analyst and press relations — build company relationships with payments analysts, journalists, and influencers who shape how the industry thinks.
  • Partner and client co-marketing — work with our clients and partners to develop co-branded content and activations that extend Cyclops' reach.
The Payments Conference You Know Cold

You have informed opinions on leading events like those listed below. You know organizers and which companies invest heavily and why. You know the floor plan. You know which side of the room to be on and which cocktail party is worth staying late for:

  • Money20/20 (US and Europe)
  • Fintech Meetup
  • Token 2049
  • MAG

You have a view on which of these move the needle for a company at our stage and which are vanity. You will build our annual conference calendar from scratch and defend every line item.

Required Qualifications
  • Ready to roll up your sleeves. This job description was written by our founders. We founded, scaled and sold a company in 2022 to Shift4. We’ve never been hungrier. Our most senior people outwork our junior people by a wide margin. You will be building a brand, not taking one over and overseeing others to keep trains running on time.
  • Our ideal candidate has worked at one or more of: a payments orchestrator (Spreedly, Primer, Gr4vy, IXOPAY, Corefy, CellPoint Digital, or equivalent), a PSP, a network, an acquirer, or a payments-first platform whose clients are payment companies.
  • Deep familiarity with the payments conference circuit — not simply as an attendee, but as someone who has planned, staffed, and owned event strategy and execution.
  • Strong grasp of digital brand and SEO/AIO in a B2B context. You understand how AI search is changing discoverability and you have strong strategies for how to win.
  • Deep understanding of consumer psychology. Social proof, emotional triggers, trust, authority, etc. You can make everything more effective, from booth messaging, to a hero page, to a pitch deck or an annual report. These documents are not simply accurate and consistent with the brand, but they are striving to earn the interest and trust of our audience.
  • A network in payments. You know people. They know you.
What We Do Not Want
  • Marketing generalists with no payments experience. Industry knowledge is the baseline, not a nice-to-have.
  • Agency or consulting backgrounds without in-house payments operator experience.
  • Leaders who manage from a distance. This role requires hands-on execution alongside strategy.
  • Anyone whose definition of field marketing is "booking the booth." We need someone who thinks about field marketing as a revenue and relationship function.
Reporting Structure

You will report directly to Co-Founder Pat Duffy, who has a decade of experience in marketing and brand - turning their last startup from unknown into market-leader.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
