Lead Affirm’s zero-to-one product initiatives in partnership with the CEO and executive team. Own product vision, strategy, roadmap, discovery, prototyping, experimentation, launch, and iteration for new products and platforms. At Affirm, we exist for the moments that matter—giving people a clear, predictable way to pay over time, with no hidden fees, no surprises, and no tradeoffs on what matters most.

About the Product Team

The Product team listens to our customers’ needs and translates those insights into a clear product vision. The team works closely with design, engineering, and analytics to build scalable financial products that empower people to manage their money with confidence. We rely on empathy, curiosity, and business sense to prioritize features and improve experiences. Our role is to lead with clarity, support cross-functional execution, and champion the user in every decision.

About the Role

The ZT1 Labs group is a small, senior team of product and engineering experts working directly with the CEO on the company’s most important new bets. This team takes on highly ambiguous, cross-functional problems where the upside is company-defining.

We are looking for a Group Product Manager to lead a portfolio of ZT1 initiatives in a hands-on builder role, with direct product ownership and with no direct people management responsibilities. You will own the vision, strategy, and roadmap for new products and platforms, partnering closely with engineers, analysts, and designers to build and launch, and with revenue and business teams to bring new products to market and scale.

You’ll work closely with the CEO and executive team to turn high-level ideas into durable, scalable businesses.

What You Will Do

Understand Customers & Strategic Context:

  • Build a deep understanding of Affirm’s global network of users, merchants, and partners.

  • Connect customer insights and market trends to long-term company strategy to identify where zero-to-one innovation can drive outsized impact.

  • Track relevant product, technology, and industry shifts and use them to inform product direction.

 Set Vision, Strategy, and Roadmap

  • Partner with the CEO and senior leaders to define problem spaces and opportunity areas that matter most for Affirm’s future.

  • Craft a clear product vision and strategic narrative for the innovation portfolio, translating that into a focused and prioritized roadmap.

  • Define crisp outcomes and success metrics tied directly to business impact (GMV, profitability, conversion, retention, long-term moat).

Lead Zero-to-One Product Development

  • Drive the full lifecycle for new products and platforms: discovery, validation, MVP definition, launch, and iteration.

  • Own the full UI/UX, using AI tools to build and iterate on working prototypes that make product ideas tangible and testable.

  • Write and refine customer-facing copy across the product experience, from onboarding to in-product guidance.

  • Independently analyze customer behavior, build funnels, and use data to identify opportunities and guide product decisions.

  • Own experimentation end to end, including hypotheses, test design, success metrics, results analysis, and iteration.

  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams to sync ZT1 roadmaps with core product roadmaps, ensuring high product quality, an aligned user experience, and cohesive business results.

 Cross-Functional & Executive Leadership

  • Lead a cross-functional group (engineering, design, data, risk, capital, operations, revenue, legal and compliance) through ambiguous and complex work.

  • Serve as a thought partner to the CEO and executive team on new product bets, tradeoffs, and prioritization.

  • Communicate clearly and often - framing decisions, risks, and tradeoffs; writing high-quality docs; and maintaining alignment across teams.

Raise the Bar for Product Craft

  • Establish product patterns, decision frameworks, and execution standards that make zero-to-one work repeatable and scalable.

  • Model strong product thinking, rigor, and judgment for senior peers without managing them directly.

  • Help shape the culture and operating model of the ZT1 function.

What We Look For

Experience

  • ~8–10+ years of product management experience with a strong track record shipping and scaling consumer-facing or platform products.

  • Previous ownership of technical software products end-to-end and ability to clearly articulate the business impact.

  • Direct experience leading zero-to-one or highly ambiguous product areas with meaningful outcomes.

  • Experience working closely with engineering, data, design, and other teams without direct authority.

  • Skilled at operating in complex environments where success depends on coordinating cross-functional work across multiple groups.

  • Founder or early-stage startup experience is a plus. Ability to spot opportunities, build from scratch, test quickly, and take ownership of outcomes.

Skills

  • Hands-on fluency with AI tools for prototyping, design, content, and analysis, with the judgment to evaluate and refine the output.

  • Comfortable doing the work directly without dedicated design, analytics, or content partners.

  • Strong communicator capable of securing alignment and decisions from broad groups of senior stakeholders with differing priorities.

  • Adept at influencing engineering teams outside your reporting line - able to guide them toward building what the product needs.

  • High judgment in ambiguous spaces - able to take incomplete or conflicting information and turn it into a clear, actionable plan.

  • Strong commercial instincts - able to contribute to pitches, negotiations, and contract evaluations when product work intersects with business strategy.

Behaviors & Traits

  • Bias toward action; cares about unblocking teams and driving meaningful progress quickly.

  • Comfortable moving between strategy and execution - from long-term roadmap thinking to writing specs or digging into edge cases.

  • Strong organizational discipline and interpersonal skills, able to navigate complex dynamics while maintaining momentum.

  • Deep sense of ownership - holds a high bar for quality and ships products on time.

  • Mission-driven and customer-obsessed, motivated to build honest, transparent financial products.
