About the Position:

The Global Commodity Manager (GCM) for Optics will develop and implement the Optics commodity and supply-chain strategies in order to drive time-to-market, continuity of supply and cost reduction initiatives that enable HPE's Optics business requirements.


Responsibilities:

Optics GCM’s responsibilities may include:

  • Managing optics commodities, including optical hardware systems, pluggable optical and copper modules and cables (Optics).
  • Managing New Product Introduction (NPI) of Optics commodities, leading suppliers and internal engineering teams through all the selection and qualification process.
  • Managing sourcing, including building and maintaining supplier relations, onboarding new suppliers, and driving Request for Information (RFI) and Quotation (RFQ) processes from inception, through suppliers and products selection to final production release.
  • Leading suppliers to align their commercial, technical and product roadmaps to Juniper’s requirements, as well as leading periodic Supplier Business Reviews (SBR) to maintain suppliers' performance in line with HPE's standards.
  • Developing the company's commodity strategy along with other GCM peers, and works with internal stakeholders to implement it.
  • Working closely with the engineering and PLM teams to influence technical and business objectives and decisions.
  • Working with internal teams and suppliers to meet regulatory compliance, including leading TL9000 audits.
  • Leading contract negotiations, including purchase, non-disclosure and statement-of-work agreements.
  • Working with peer GCMs on Optics price negotiations, in order to achieve the company's annual cost reduction targets.
  • Working with HPE's global buyers and contract manufacturers, material managers and suppliers to align supply with backlog and forecast demand.
  • Working with cross-functional teams and peer GCMs' to maintain Optics through all lifecycle phases, from qualification through end-of-life.
  • Identifying projects that add strategic value to HPE's Optics portfolio, working with suppliers and internal engineering teams through all the qualification process.
  • Monitoring Optics industry trends to mitigate supply chain risks, determine new technology adoption, and explore new potential suppliers.

Qualifications:

  • First level university degree, BS Engineering or equivalent degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain functions, 5+ year preferred.
  • Ability to work in different programs and on different products.
  • Strong ability to influence, motivate and collaborate through a cross functional organization.
  • Experience building cost models, monitoring market commodity trends and intelligence.
  • Experience summarizing complex proposals and projects into executive presentations.
  • Ability to present clearly and effectively.
  • Analytical and technical aptitude.
  • General knowledge of Optics and their key components is preferred.
  • Fluent English.
