Passionate about precision medicine and advancing the healthcare industry?

Recent advancements in underlying technology have finally made it possible for AI to impact clinical care in a meaningful way. Tempus' proprietary platform connects an entire ecosystem of real-world evidence to deliver real-time, actionable insights to physicians, providing critical information about the right treatments for the right patients, at the right time.

Passion. Purpose. Progress.

At Tempus, we’re building the world’s leading precision medicine platform — applying Generative AI to reimagine how we diagnose, treat, and care for patients. Our Tempus OS platform brings together massive amounts of clinical, molecular, and imaging data to power new discoveries and deploy intelligent systems at scale.

We’re empowering healthcare and life-science organizations to build intelligent agents that accelerate science, improve operational efficiency, and transform care delivery. To help our partners succeed, we’re introducing a new role: the GenAI Solutions Engineer.

What You’ll Do

As a GenAI Solutions Engineer for our Sales org, you’ll embed directly within the sales team to help them identify real problems and solve them using agentic GenAI solutions built on the Tempus OS platform.

This is a hybrid role spanning product management, solutions architecture, and hands-on implementation. You’ll help customers imagine what’s possible with GenAI, prototype it, and make it real.

You will:

  • Partner with customer leaders to uncover high-impact use cases where GenAI and Tempus OS can deliver measurable value.

  • Design and implement agent-based solutions — from workflow automation to patient communication, insight generation, or clinical operations.

  • Enable customer leaders by revolutionizing their processes to enhance their healthcare provider engagement and experience through AI-derived actions and insights

  • Build rapid prototypes / proof-of-concepts to validate ideas and alignment.

  • Work directly with LLMs and agent frameworks (prompt design, chaining, context management, evaluation, and guardrails).

  • Lead moderate-to-full implementations in collaboration with customer teams or internal engineers.

  • Build integrations between customer data systems, APIs, and Tempus OS services.

  • Configure, test, iterate, tune performance, and ensure reliability.

  • Evangelize best practices in AI safety, observability, and responsible deployment.

  • Serve as the customer’s technical and strategic bridge to Tempus — shaping our roadmap through real-world feedback.

  • Create solution templates, reference architectures, and internal learning artifacts that make future deployments faster and safer.

  • Train business users, power users, and internal champions on interacting with deployed agents.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 5+ years in technical/customer-facing roles (solutions engineering, AI/ML implementation, systems architecture).

  • Hands-on experience building or deploying GenAI applications (agents, chat interfaces, or LLM-driven workflows).

  • Strong programming skills (Python, JavaScript or similar) and familiarity with APIs, webhooks, integration patterns, data pipelines.

  • Experience designing or building prototype-to-production AI solutions (not just proof-of-concepts) — including observability, A/B testing, error-handling, scaling.

  • Familiarity with prompt engineering, RAG, model evaluation, and orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LlamaIndex, or similar).

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills — able to interface with both clinicians and engineers.

  • Proven ability to drive projects from discovery through delivery, balancing experimentation and execution.

Preferred:

  • Experience in healthcare, life sciences, or regulated industries.
Understanding of data privacy, PHI handling, and compliance in AI systems.

  • Experience working with customers who have limited engineering resources.
Track record of creating demos, proofs of concept, or internal enablement tools that accelerate adoption.

  • Familiarity with frameworks or tools such as LangChain, Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), agent orchestration frameworks.

  • Experience or understanding working with CRM platforms (e.g. Salesforce) and data visualization tools (e.g. Looker, Tableau).

  • Interest or familiarity with sales processes from prospecting to customer management, and customer engagements

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
