We're looking for a motivated and skilled Full Stack Engineer (Software Engineer II) to join our growing engineering team. In this mid-level role, you'll play a critical part in designing, building, and maintaining features that power Roo’s veterinary marketplace. You’ll work cross-functionally with product, design, data, and engineering peers to bring scalable, high-impact solutions to life.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone who’s already gained a solid foundation in full-stack development and is ready to take on more responsibility - whether it’s owning features end-to-end, mentoring junior engineers, or driving architectural improvements.

This is a remote-first role, with occasional travel to San Francisco for cross-functional events or team offsites as needed.
Responsibilities- Work closely with product managers, designers, analysts, and engineers to deliver robust and thoughtful technical solutions that solve real business problems.
- Design, develop, and maintain features across our stack, with a focus on scalable architecture, performance, and maintainability.
- Write clean, efficient, and well-documented code, contributing to both our React Native mobile app and backend services.
- Participate in technical design discussions and make meaningful contributions to architectural decisions.
- Lead by example through high-quality code, peer code reviews, and mentoring early-career engineers.
- Own the testing lifecycle for your features—writing unit tests with Jest and end-to-end tests with Cypress.
- Investigate and resolve production issues, improve observability, and contribute to platform reliability.
- Partner with DevOps and infrastructure teams to ensure smooth deployments, CI/CD workflows, and system performance.
- Stay up-to-date on industry trends and best practices, and proactively introduce improvements to tools, processes, or technologies.
- 2–4 years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, with strong proficiency in TypeScript/JavaScript
- Mobile development experience (e.g., React Native or another mobile framework)
- Experience with Node, Express, React, AWS, and relational databases
- Proficient at writing complex and efficient SQL queries
- Experience working with a growing team and early stage startup strongly preferred
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Degree in Computer Science or relevant field preferred
- Highly self-driven with a passion to solve problems and research solutions
