Creative Director, Campaign Design

Are you an art director by trade, a designer at heart, and a person with a passion for great advertising? If so, we should talk.

We’re looking for a smart, strategic creative director to join our campaign design team. In this role, you’ll work on every kind of campaign—from the digital- and social-first to the big 360s—creating beautiful, impactful visuals that draw viewers in (and make our clients stand out).

You’re the perfect candidate if:

  • You have an uncanny ability to translate ideas into visuals that move people
  • You truly love design and bring an elevated aesthetic to all of your work
  • You want to help sell big, bold ideas that break through
  • You have a healthy appreciation for deadlines
  • You like working in a variety of industries, from Big Tech to small consumer brands
  • You’re energetic, optimistic, and excited to do great things
  • You play well with others—and appreciate working with really, really nice people and clients

Still with us? Good! Check out a few more of the responsibilities below.

Core Responsibilities:

Creative Leadership:

  • Enthusiastically develops and executes high-impact, visually compelling concepts for integrated campaigns
  • Brings deep production experience
  • Is fluent in full-funnel digital marketing, including trends in social media, paid search, video advertising, influencer marketing and more
  • Establishes and maintains the overall art direction, ensuring a consistent visual language across client projects.
  • Serves as a leader in the creative process, guiding teams through ideation, design, and execution.

Collaboration & Teamwork:

  • Works closely with copywriters, designers, strategists, project managers and the production team to ensure cohesive creative direction that delivers on the creative brief.
  • Leads brainstorming sessions and provides constructive feedback to ensure high-quality work.
  • Acts as a liaison between the creative team and internal stakeholders, facilitating clear communication and idea flow.

Client Engagement & Communication:

  • Eagerly engages in client content to best understand the client’s vision, business goals, and their products and services and then translating these into compelling creative deliverables.
  • Presents creative concepts and campaigns to clients and internal teams, articulating design decisions and the strategic rationale behind them.
  • Identifies growth opportunities within existing accounts and collaborates with client-facing teams to nurture and expand client relationships.
  • Represents the creative team in new business presentations and pitches, showcasing VSA’s design capabilities and approach to campaign work.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
