Part-time fractional People Ops coordinator supporting execution of HR operations: maintain HRIS and people systems, manage onboarding/offboarding and contractor logistics, draft employment and process documents, support recognition and program execution, and handle general admin (travel, events, equipment). Must be reliable, have strong judgment, work autonomously in a fast startup environment, and be comfortable with varied tasks.

THE ROLE

We're a lean, distributed team with a small people ops function. Our Head of People owns the strategy and the relationships as a team of one. We need someone to help own the execution: keeping systems updated, processes on track, and making sure the day-to-day work doesn't slip.

This role is a good fit for someone who likes variety, is comfortable picking up whatever's in front of them, and doesn't need a lot of direction to get moving.

People ops or related experience is not required. What matters more is that you're reliable, have good judgment, and are easy to work with. If you've thrived as an EA, ops generalist, or startup utility player and you're intentionally doing fractional contract work, this is probably a great fit.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

  • Keep people systems up to date and processes moving: HRIS and people systems, contractor logistics, onboarding and offboarding, immigration coordination

  • Draft employment documents, process documentation, reports, and internal comms

  • Support program execution: recognition, celebration posts, automated process setup, scheduling and logistics

  • Handle general admin as needed: travel, events, equipment, and whatever else comes up

WHO YOU ARE

We can be flexible on a lot – background, industry, exact hours – for the right person. What isn't flexible: reliability, strong judgment, and being easy to work with.

  • You are biased toward action and are known for getting things done reliably

  • You thrive in change and enjoy taking on new tasks and kinds of work

  • You’ve worked in a startup environment before and are excited by the pace and autonomy

  • You’re good at knowing what needs escalation and what doesn't

  • You’re warm and approachable and enjoy being a go-to person for the team

Perks & Benefits
We are a globally distributed company - 15 countries and counting! While our benefits offering varies from country to country, our goal is to provide competitive and comprehensive benefits to every member of our team, no matter where they live and work.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
