Description

About Us:

VAST Data is revolutionizing the AI data infrastructure landscape by enabling organizations to unlock radical intelligence and utility through innovative, simple, and transparent solutions.  We’re on a mission to build the only data platform that can match the ambition of AI-era companies, and we need exceptional talent to achieve our vision.

Summary:

We are seeking a Manager, GTM FP&A to join our team and drive the evolution of a high-performing finance function. You will serve as the dedicated financial partner to our global Sales and Marketing organizations. You will drive financial planning, analysis, and strategic decisions that accelerate our Go-to-Market success. We need a "builder" who pairs deep technical modeling expertise with the communication and partnership skills necessary to influence strategic GTM decisions and scale our finance organization alongside our rapid growth.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Build deep relationships with Sales and Marketing in order to serve as their strategic and trusted financial partner, providing critical financial insights, challenging assumptions, and influencing key investment decisions
  • Build, own, and continually refine the foundational GTM FP&A infrastructure, including budgeting, forecasting, and expense tracking processes tailored for Sales and Marketing
  • Design and implement a robust GTM analytics framework (e.g., CAC, LTV, ROI of marketing spend, sales productivity), collaborating closely with the Business and Data Analytics teams to ensure data integrity, operationalize KPIs, and automate reporting
  • Drive financial discipline and operational maturity within the Sales and Marketing organizations, implementing best practices for resource allocation, target setting, and performance management
  • Own the GTM-specific inputs for the Annual and Long-term Planning cycles, ensuring alignment between GTM strategy and financial targets
  • Contribute to executive, board, and investor reporting, delivering strategic insights and concise storytelling that clarifies Sales and Marketing performance and mobilizes action
  • Perform ad-hoc analyses to support critical GTM operating priorities and strategic initiatives as needed
Requirements
  • 4-8 years of experience with prior experience supporting GTM functions in a high growth tech company. Public company experience is preferred.
  • Highly driven self-starter with a builder’s mindset, who operates with autonomy and maintains a high ‘quality bar’ for accuracy and business judgment
  • Outstanding communication skills, with a track record of distilling data into narratives for executives, investors, and sophisticated business audiences
  • Expert-level financial modeling and analytical skills (Excel/Google Sheets) with experience managing complex operating models. Familiarity with SQL, SFDC, NetSuite, and Pigment is a plus
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives, prioritize effectively, achieve objectives in a fast-paced environment, and comfort operating in ambiguity
  • Excited about AI and passionate about building a landmark, generational tech company
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field. MBA preferred though not required

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
