Ready to be pushed beyond what you think you’re capable of?
At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.
To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. We want someone who will run towards, not away from, solving the company’s hardest problems.
Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.
While many roles at Coinbase are remote-first, we are not remote-only. In-person participation is required throughout the year. Team and company-wide offsites are held multiple times annually to foster collaboration, connection, and alignment. Attendance is expected and fully supported.
As a key member of our U.S. Policy team, you will be responsible for leading Coinbase’s engagement strategy with Democratic Members of Congress, candidates, and regulators. We’re looking for leaders and doers. You’ll be advancing our federal policy priorities, including crypto market structure legislation. A background in financial services or tech policy is helpful.
What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):
- Build and maintain strong relationships with Democratic offices, committee staff, and key caucuses.
- Monitor and analyze federal legislation, regulation, and political developments that could impact Coinbase’s business.
- Work cross-functionally with legal, policy, regulatory, and communications teams to shape and communicate Coinbase’s policy positions.
- Represent Coinbase in meetings with policymakers, trade associations, advocacy coalitions, and other external stakeholders.
- Develop briefing materials, talking points, and other content for use by senior Coinbase leaders in high-level engagements.
- Coordinate with internal and external lobbyists and consultants to align strategy and maximize impact.
What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):
- Bachelor’s degree or non-U.S. equivalent required.
- 7+ years of experience in government affairs, Capitol Hill, political campaigns, or advocacy organizations.
- Strong existing relationships in Congress, including the Senate, particularly offices and committees relevant to financial services or tech.
- Experience driving policy strategies in complex, high-stakes legislative environments.
- Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and communicate effectively with internal and external audiences.
- Excellent judgment, political instincts, and understanding of how policy intersects with business risk and opportunity.
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
Nice to haves:
- Familiarity with crypto, fintech, or broader financial regulatory issues.
- Experience coordinating large-scale advocacy campaigns or coalitions.
- Previous in-house experience at a trade association, technology or financial services company.
- Passion for crypto and Web3, including personal engagement with the ecosystem.
- Law degree.
