Assists with daily operations at a school-based fabrication lab by managing phone inquiries, tracking member usage, supporting open shop sessions, classes, and events, and helping with setup and cleanup. Responsibilities also include responding to emails, posting on the website and social media, assisting with reports, and helping visitors access the space. Additional duties may reflect the assistant’s interests and experience.
The City of Somerville is seeking candidates (students, 16+ years of age) for the position of FabVille Lab Assistant for the 2026-2027 school year.

FabVille's Lab Assistants are responsible for assisting the Lab Manager and Instructors with day-to-day operations at the City of Somerville’s fabrication lab, "FabVille", located in Somerville High School.
- Manage the Google Voice phone number to field questions and help visitors access the space
- Track space usage by having new and returning members sign in
- Assist with members during open shop, classes and events, and help with setup and cleanup
- Assist with posting on website and social media
- Respond to email inquiries about FabVille
- Assist Lab Manager with preparing reports
- Additional responsibilities dependent upon interest and past experience
If presented with a job offer, you will be required to obtain a youth work permit and provide proof of permission to work in the U.S.
*Preference will be given to Somerville High School students.*
FabVille's anticipated regular hours of operation are
Tuesdays: 5-9PM
Wednesdays: 4-9PM * (4-5 for students only)
Thursdays: 4-9PM * (4-5 for students only)
(with some classes and events scheduled on Monday and Friday evenings)
