Provides financial, administrative, and operational support across municipal infrastructure divisions. Responsibilities include revenue forecasting, cost and variance analysis, fee evaluation, permitting system oversight, cash receipt management, reconciliations, utility billing analysis, capital project financial tracking, grant support, reporting, audits, and process improvement. The role collaborates with Finance and department leaders to improve resource management, compliance, billing procedures, and long-term financial planning.

Youth participants complete project-based work in City of Somerville departments and community partner organizations while attending biweekly job-readiness and professional development workshops. The program runs January 25 through May 28, 2027, with schedules varying by placement and a maximum of eight hours per week.

Manages the evaluation, implementation, integration, testing, maintenance, and improvement of the City’s HRIS. Administers system access, database integrity, upgrades, reporting, security, and vendor issue resolution. Develops training materials, conducts employee training, supports users, and recommends system enhancements. Partners with HR and City staff on requirements, customizations, user acceptance testing, compliance, and technology best practices.

Supports day-to-day human resources operations for a municipal government, including policy implementation, regulatory compliance, employee relations, payroll and budget functions, leave administration, onboarding, personnel transactions, I-9 audits, records management, unemployment compensation, and public-facing assistance. Coordinates civil service hiring processes, maintains HR data, supports managers and employees, and oversees seasonal and part-time staff.

Oversee the City's payroll operations, including payroll processing, audits, reconciliations, accounting, compliance, payroll reporting, and employee compensation records. Manage payroll systems and vendor relationships, troubleshoot discrepancies, support timekeeping initiatives, monitor payroll budgets, and ensure compliance with laws, contracts, and collective bargaining agreements. Provide guidance and training to departmental payroll staff, collaborate with Finance, HR, Treasury, Retirement, Legal, and IT, and act as Payroll Director when needed.

Facilitates and leads seasonal recreational programs in areas such as sports, arts, music, academics, and STEAM. Applies prior knowledge and experience in a relevant field while working up to 19 hours per week. The role is safety-sensitive and requires successful completion of pre-employment drug screening.
