About the job

Remote job, candidates must be based in the USA.

Who we are

NPS Prism, owned by Bain & Company, is a leading cloud-based CX benchmarking platform. We provide competitive customer insights that help companies understand where they are winning, where they are falling behind, and where customer-experience investments can create the greatest impact. Since our launch in 2019, we have grown to more than 200 team members and serve clients around the world. As part of Bain & Company, we combine the expertise and resources of a global consulting leader with the entrepreneurial environment of a growing business. We value diversity, inclusion, and collaboration and invest in exceptional people so they can thrive professionally and personally.

Where you'll fit within the team

You will report directly to the Director of Sales and play an important role in building NPS Prism's direct enterprise sales organization. Most BDR roles are built around volume. This one is built around strategic judgment. Before any outreach, you'll develop a real point of view on the account - its priorities, its stakeholders, and where NPS Prism's competitive insights can create value. You will work closely with Sales, Client Engagement, Marketing, RevOps, and Bain teams to identify, research, and develop high-value enterprise opportunities.

What you'll do

  • Research and prioritize strategic target accounts across NPS Prism's key industries.

  • Identify executives, business leaders, and broader buying committees within priority accounts.

  • Research company strategy, leadership priorities, customer initiatives, market developments, and relevant competitive signals.

  • Develop personalized outreach across email, LinkedIn, phone, video, and other appropriate channels.

  • Generate qualified conversations and new enterprise opportunities.

  • Build concise account briefs and value hypotheses for priority prospects.

  • Identify relevant Bain, NPS Prism, and existing relationships where appropriate.

  • Partner with the Director of Sales on executive outreach, discovery preparation, follow-up, and multi-threading.

  • Work with Client Engagement experts when industry or benchmark expertise can add value to the sales process.

  • Maintain accurate account, contact, activity, stakeholder, and next-step information in HubSpot.

  • Capture prospect feedback, objections, and market intelligence to help improve our messaging and commercial approach.

  • How we measure success
  • We measure success by outcomes rather than activity volume:
  • Qualified enterprise meetings held

  • Sales Accepted Opportunities created

  • Priority target accounts engaged

  • Senior stakeholder and buying-committee engagement

  • Quality of account research and outreach

  • Consistent follow-up and opportunity progression

  • Accurate HubSpot data

  • Contribution to qualified pipeline and net-new ARR

About you:
Required:

  • 2+ years of experience in enterprise business development, enterprise sales, account development, consulting, customer insights, or another relevant client-facing role

  • Strong research skills and intellectual curiosity

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills

  • Ability to communicate confidently with senior business leaders

  • Comfort researching companies, industries, executives, and strategic priorities

  • Strong organization, follow-up discipline, and attention to detail

  • Proactive, self-directed, and comfortable working in an environment where processes are still being built

  • Strong collaborator who enjoys working across teams

Nice to have

  • Experience with enterprise SaaS, data, analytics, research, or consulting solutions

  • Experience engaging VP and C-level executives

  • Experience with HubSpot and LinkedIn Sales Navigator

  • Familiarity with customer experience, customer insights, or competitive intelligence

  • Experience using AI and research tools to improve account preparation and productivity

The person we're looking for

You are curious, thoughtful, commercial, persistent, and collaborative. You prefer understanding an account before contacting it. You are comfortable creating a point of view, reaching senior people, and finding different paths into complex organizations. You understand that the objective of business development is to create the right conversations that can become meaningful customer relationships and revenue, rather than simply increasing message or meeting volume.

Our approach to business development

We are building a focused, intelligence-led outbound organization rather than a high-volume model - a commercial organization where outreach is informed by customer context, market intelligence, public signals, executive priorities, competitive dynamics, and business outcomes. For senior executives, that often means highly researched and personalized outreach. For broader account coverage, it can include thoughtful use of technology and AI to improve research and productivity. The goal is simple: understand the account, have a point of view, create value before asking for time, and earn the right to start a conversation.

What we offer

NPS Prism is 100% owned by Bain & Company, one of the world's leading management consulting firms and a company consistently recognized as one of the world's best places to work. This role offers the opportunity to join NPS Prism at an important stage of its commercial growth, work with experienced Sales and Client Engagement leaders, engage senior executives at major companies, and help shape how we build our enterprise sales organization.

So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
