Engineering Team Manager, API & Service Frameworks

Squarespace is looking for an Engineering Team Manager to lead the API and Service Frameworks team within the Building Blocks Platform Engineering group. This team owns critical infrastructure—including the public API gateway, Java-based service framework, and external developer portal—that supports both internal development and external integrations. In this high-impact role, you’ll guide technical strategy, grow and mentor engineers, and collaborate with stakeholders to shape core systems used across the company.

You will report to the Engineering Manager of the Backend Platform team in our NYC office. This is a hybrid opportunity with three days in the office per week.

• Have experience in service-oriented architecture design and best practices.

Qualifications:

• 6+ years of backend engineering experience in Java and Spring.
• 2+ years in a team lead, tech lead, or engineering management role.
• Experience building and maintaining frameworks, platforms, or developer tooling at scale.
• Strong understanding of API architecture, lifecycle management, and developer experience.

Cash Compensation Range: $153,500 - $247,250 USD

The base salary for this position will vary based on job-related criteria including relevant skills, experience, and location, among other factors.

In addition to the cash compensation above (which includes base salary and, where applicable for eligible roles, may include on-target commissions or overtime pay), Squarespace employees are eligible to be granted an option to purchase our common stock.
