Role Description and Mission:
We are seeking a seasoned Software Engineering Manager who combines exceptional people leadership, strong execution discipline, and deep technical judgment. This role is critical to driving engineering excellence, owning team outcomes, and ensuring we deliver high-impact software with consistency and quality.
As a fully remote leader, you will excel at building trust, aligning distributed teams, and driving clarity, accountability, and engagement in a virtual environment. You should be equally comfortable coaching engineers, guiding system design discussions, earning cross-functional trust, and setting a high bar for leadership communication.
Key Outcomes:
Leadership & People Management
- Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing remote engineering team (6–10 engineers).
- Set clear expectations, ensure accountability, and foster a culture of ownership, trust, and continuous improvement.
- Strengthen communication clarity and remote team engagement through effective rituals and leadership presence.
- Elevate communication clarity and leadership presence, ensuring polished written and verbal communication across senior leadership, partners, and engineering teams.
Technical Direction
- Guide system design, architecture decisions, and trade-offs for reliable and scalable SaaS systems.
- Ensure strong engineering practices—code quality, testing, observability, operations, and incident readiness.
- Provide technical context and review without needing to be hands-on daily.
Execution & Delivery
- Own team commitments end-to-end—planning, prioritization, delivery, and meeting timelines.
- Drive predictable execution and balance process with agility in a mature SaaS environment.
- Communicate risks, status, and decisions clearly to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Cross-Functional Collaboration
- Partner closely with Product, Design, QA, Security, and Operations to shape roadmaps and deliver high-impact outcomes.
- Communicate proactively with stakeholders, offering transparency, crisp status updates, risks, and mitigation plans.
Skills, Education and Experience:
Minimum
- 8+ years software engineering experience, and 3–5+ years In Engineering Management role.
- Proven experience delivering scalable, reliable SaaS products.
- Strong understanding of system design, architecture patterns, APIs, and modern engineering practices.
- Excellent communicator who can influence across functions and levels.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, align, and motivate remote teams.
- Ability to coach senior engineers and guide architectural evolution.
Preferred
- Experience in a mid-to-large SaaS organization with a balance of process and agility.
- Ruby on Rails experience.

The base salary range presented represents the anticipated low and high end salary range for new hires in this position. Your final base salary will be determined based on factors such as work location, experience, job related skills, and relevant training and education. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package provided by Agero to employees.
