Engineering Manager - Infrastructure Tooling, Data Platform

Data Platform (DP) team is a central team in Netflix that enables business and technical talent to scale effectively in all business domains like Member Experiences, Content, Studio, Live, Ads, Games etc. by providing efficient, reliable, and compliant tooling, platforms, and services for data. In service of this mission, we develop and support data platforms, tools, and services across analytics, data stores, data movement, discovery, data experiences, and infrastructure.

The charter of the Poland Infrastructure Tooling Team is to deliver value by innovating on infrastructure and tooling areas to support strategic initiatives in the Data Platform (DP). This team will complement existing data platform domain-specific infrastructure teams.

This team of 8-10 people (and growing) partners closely with the domain infrastructure teams on a variety of projects such as advancing testing infrastructure, developing reference applications, and implementing testing fakes. The team also works on bringing stateful systems on the Netflix paved path for operational ease, tooling for automated migrations, and establishing correctness and performance parity, 

This is a dream team of highly passionate and intelligent engineers who work well together and collaborate very closely with the domain infrastructure teams in the US. The team works on solving challenging problems that have a huge impact on the Data Platform. 

• Partner with the domain infrastructure teams to deliver the infrastructure and tooling for strategic products

• Form trusting cross-functional partnerships across Data Platform to align many engineering teams and ensure their infrastructure and tooling needs are met

• Build, scale, and grow a team of outstanding engineers, challenge them to bring their best selves to work every day, and deliver industry-leading results in enabling stable, performant, and efficient services

• An experienced engineering leader who can drive a team of amazing distributed engineers to do their best work while building and maintaining strong partnerships with peers and stakeholders

• Ability to dive deep as needed to facilitate technical strategy trade-offs and zoom out to understand the big picture to shape the product

• Experience building and running infrastructure for extremely reliable platform systems supporting high-scale and critical workloads

• Bring rigor to decision-making and drive down ambiguity with the right mix of collecting data, seeking input, farming for dissent, and making pilot investments to build understanding or confirm direction

• Proven track record helping a team deliver timely results on critical priorities against many demands for their time, and partnering with leadership to influence the right areas for investment

• Experience building and leading software engineering teams with a focus on inclusion and diversity, ensuring that we can attract and retain the best talent from anywhere and that all voices are heard to inform our direction

• Distributed Systems experience and Data Platform domain experience, such as experience in Cassandra, Elastic Search, Spark, Iceberg, Kafka, or Flink, are very desirable.
