About this role:
Wells Fargo is seeking an Engineering Associate - Application Modernization to join the Consumer Technology (CT) group. This role specifically aligns to the Auto Lending Technology line of business and focuses on modernizing applications that support critical internal clients such as underwriters and funders. You will work in an agile and innovative environment, contributing to the development and enhancement of applications using modern frameworks and technologies.
This position is part of the Career Opportunities in Development and Engineering (CODE) Program, a two-year direct-hire initiative designed to help individuals from diverse educational and professional backgrounds launch careers in technology. Whether you're a recent graduate, a coding bootcamp alum, or someone with hands-on technical experience, CODE offers a structured pathway into the tech industry-no four-year degree required.
As a full-time employee in the CODE Program, you'll begin with immersive onboarding and continue with hands-on training, mentorship, and professional development. You'll be part of a collaborative cohort supported by a dedicated program management team, gaining exposure to real-world projects and building a strong foundation in data engineering and ETL development.

In this role, you will:
  • Assist in modernizing and enhancing existing applications to improve performance and user experience.
  • Develop, test, and maintain applications using modern frameworks and technologies such as Java, React, Spring Boot, and Node.js.
  • Participate in code reviews, troubleshooting, and debugging to ensure high-quality deliverables.
  • Stay informed about emerging technologies and best practices to support continuous improvement.
Required Qualifications:
  • 6+ months of Technology Engineering and Solutions experience, or equivalent demonstrated through one or a combination of the following: work experience, training, military experience, education
Desired Qualifications:
  • 6+ months of experience using modern frameworks and technologies such as Java, React, Spring Boot, and Node.js.in academic, professional, or project-based environments.
  • 6+ months of experience using version control systems such as GitHub or similar version control platforms to manage code repositories, implement branching strategies, track changes, and collaborate on development workflows.
  • Experience working with Kafka for messaging or event-driven architectures in academic, training, or project-based environments.
  • Exposure to MongoDB or other NoSQL databases through coursework, bootcamps, or hands-on projects.
  • Experience working in Agile development environments, including participation in sprints, stand-ups, and backlog grooming.
  • Experience working with cloud technologies or concepts such as Azure or Google Cloud Platform (GCP) in academic, training, or project-based environments.
  • Familiarity with AI principles and tools, evidenced by participation in training programs, completion of online courses, or practical experience integrating AI functionality into small-scale applications.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools, managing email and calendars in Outlook, and building presentations in PowerPoint.
  • Experience communicating technical issues or access-related concerns across technical and non-technical teams.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously and meet deadlines in academic or professional settings.
Job Expectations:
  • Maintain a hybrid work schedule with regular onsite presence at one of the designated office locations.
  • Must reside within commuting distance of a designated office location for the duration of employment or be willing to relocate at personal expense; relocation assistance will not be provided.
  • Actively engage in the two-year CODE Program, including participation in training, mentorship, networking events, and career development activities.
  • This position is not eligible for Visa sponsorship
