Systems Architect - Robotics
With a title like “Robotics Systems Architect,” you know that the job makes good use of science and math, but what do Robotics Systems Architects actually do? Well, they love robotics. They have the organizational and oversight skills to be the Project Managers. And, they’re Engineers.
So, in short, Robotics Systems Architects are involved in every step of a robotic project, from the initial design through product evaluations.
Responsibilities:
- Collaborates with developers, fellow engineers, project managers, clients, and other stakeholders to understand the requirements and scope of the robotics project.
- Break down and frame problems to reduce ambiguity and complexity for technical teams and decision makers (written and verbal)
- Identify changes to the system architecture and allocations across sub-systems and components that improve system performance, robustness, extensibility
- Risk management activities including but not limited to: DFMEA, Troubleshooting, Tolerance Analysis, DFM.
- Perform technical risk assessments and define mitigations, identify potential failures modes or shortcomings of designs, and establish test strategy
- Feasibility and applicability of consumer facing KPI to system capability and architecture.
- Experience working with both business and end user needs, and connecting those to technical alternative
- Maintains documentation of development process, product specifications, and system validation.
- Assists with cost estimates and project calculations.
- Maintains knowledge of existing and developing technology and trends in robotics.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- Be an excellent coach, mentor, communicator, leader.
- Bachelor’s degree in a STEM discipline
- 7+ years of experience with complex assembly consumer products
- Demonstrated depth and breadth of technical expertise
- History of delivering system and/or product designs that balance customer impact, development speed, technical risk, and product extensibility.
- Experience developing complex, multidisciplinary systems from concept to deployment
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
