You are a tech-savvy engineer that thrives on building things with real-world applications that you and your friends could talk about. Comfort with learning and adopting new technologies helps you keep your technical skills fresh, so you’re someone who’s comfortable experimenting until you find the tech that works. You manage complexity by approaching problems with curiosity to define issues before acting on solutions. You have the experience, instincts, and analytical mindset to make quality, timely decisions.

You ideally have three to five years of experience working with backend web technologies. We write most of our core systems in Ruby, but we are flexible on your specific experience; we care more about general engineering acumen than any specific tech. We would be really impressed if you had experience in eCommerce, payment systems, or the food and beverage technology space.
What the role is
In our Senior Software Engineer role, you will be an integral part of the engineering team, responsible for executing on our product roadmaps against the back-end of our consumer and retailer (think liquor store operations) tools with aggressive timelines during rapid growth. By partnering closely with product managers, customer experience, sales, and account management teams, you will balance “having your hands on the keyboard” with leading design discussions for large projects and informing some of our largest decisions. You will also recommend new ways of doing things as we expect Senior Software Engineers to raise the bar for the team.
We are hiring across multiple teams in the engineering org:
Platform: The platform team is responsible for all aspects of Drizly’s API and infrastructure. The platform encapsulates all of Drizly’s unique technology to enable customers to discover and buy the widest selection of alcohol products and retailers to legally and easily process digital alcohol transactions. This team is focused on building and scaling innovative APIs and services to enable internal and external application teams create unique alcohol e-commerce experiences.
Retailer Technologies: The retailer teams build products, tools & systems that our retailers interact with on a day to day basis. How your order is accurately & quickly delivered from the store to your door is managed by what we build here on the retailer team. We are building best in class, innovative products for our retail partners to operate & compete effectively in this digital world.
Please note: this role can be performed remotely anywhere in the United States with the exception of Colorado.
In this role you will:
- Work with Product, UX, and other stakeholders to design, implement, document and maintain features for different properties of the Drizly platform
- Participate in technical design and architecture discussions with the team
- Write well tested, performant code and participate in code reviews with the team.
- Provide technical guidance to more junior team members
- Work with the engineering organization to level up technical processes, code quality, and system design
- Consult with the business on the feasibility and/or level of effort required for certain projects
