At SharkNinja, our purpose is to positively impact people’s lives every day in every home around the world. With the explosive growth we have been experiencing, we’re looking for motivated individuals to join us on our exciting journey. People need to think big, move fast, and want to make a significant impact. Are you ready?

SharkNinja is looking for a highly-motivated Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the R&D team within Ninja Engineering. We seek a creative problem solver who possesses an intuitive grasp of physics and engineering fundamentals, is equally comfortable hacking together a prototype in the lab or analyzing the results of a test, and is passionate about solving the tough engineering challenges required to be the first to deliver innovative new kitchen products to market.

The R&D team researches and develops new technologies and integrates them into new products. We aren’t building your grandma’s toaster oven here – innovating in the kitchen means more complex technologies must be invented and implemented within tight constraints. The Senior Mechanical Engineer is a technical leader who is responsible for developing those technologies, implementing them into products, and pushing their performance to its limits. They participate in idea generation, prototype design and construction, and working with a cross-functional team to determine what our new products should be and how to make them. They run tests, gather data, analyze it, and develop theories that may be referenced in product development here for years to come – or overturned with tomorrow’s test results as they build an even deeper understanding of how things work.

This role is involved heavily at the front-end of the product development cycle but also supports products all the way up to mass production, continuously working to push product performance. The Senior Mechanical Engineer works collaboratively with other engineers in R&D as well as other disciplines ranging from Electrical Engineering to Product Marketing. The focus of this role is technology R&D, but we’re all product developers here, and we don’t have any boundaries in the pursuit of making amazing, 5-star-rated products – this means you can also impact every aspect of a product’s design ranging from how it’s marketed to UI behavior.

Roles and leadership opportunities exist both for those interested in a purely technical track and those interested in a management track that’s still technically-focused.

Attributes & Skills:

  • Strong understanding of mechanical engineering/physics fundamentals including heat transfer, thermodynamics, fluid mechanics, and mechanical design
  • Solid analytical skills, strong attention to detail, and relentless drive to identify potential problems and take responsibility for their resolution
  • Natural curiosity, positive attitude, and proven ability to deliver robust, elegant, and innovative solutions to complex design challenges
  • Ability to quickly, effectively, and concisely communicate with both technical and non-technical colleagues both verbally and in writing
  • Comfortable multitasking and responding quickly to shifting priorities without losing sight of longer-term projects and goals
  • Understanding of other disciplines within Product Development and ability to collaborate across them including Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Design, Industrial Design, User Experience, Quality/Manufacturing, and Marketing
  • Desire to play a critical role in shaping the cutting-edge new consumer appliances on store shelves by driving how those products function

Qualifications:

  • BS or MS in Engineering (Mechanical or similar discipline)
  • 5+ years of related experience in product design and development
  • Experience with hands-on prototype development in plastic and metal including using basic machine shop tools and 3D Printing
  • Experience with electronics (analog/digital), test equipment, and components common in small appliances (sensors, motors, heaters, PCBAs, etc.)
  • Familiarity with production processes such as injection molding and sheet metal forming, as well as prototyping techniques such as 3D printing and machining
  • Proficient CAD user
  • Advanced skills in using Excel to generate graphs and charts from test data
  • Passion for cooking and food is a plus!
