Perch is creating the next generation Consumer Products company by becoming the first technology-based scale operator of top eCommerce microbrands.  Microbrands selling through marketplaces like Amazon are already transforming global retail - Amazon’s 3rd party marketplace alone was $300B in 2020.  Perch is disrupting and accelerating this space by acquiring great brands and making them even better.  We look for successful, profitable businesses that sell top-ranked products with differentiated customer feedback.  The Perch platform integrates those businesses into a scale operating company and accelerates the products to the next level of sales and profitability.  We are a key resource for entrepreneurs who want liquidity and a key partner for Amazon and other retail channels by offering exceptional products, great customer service, and great value.

Central to our success is the ability to rapidly grow and optimize our brands after they join our platform. Creating and executing the Perch Playbook is one of the most challenging and important parts of our success as a company The ideal candidate will be forged in plastic (learnability) and have a track record of writing clean, well tested and maintainable code, delivering results, and bringing new ideas to the table on the fly.

This person will have the opportunity to help drive DevOps culture, working directly with the core engineering team to define, guide, and create tooling and processes to push the organization towards DevOps, site reliability, and modern cloud principles.

About You

We are looking for collaborative team members to help build out scalable, easy to use systems. You will have experience in taking a question and turning it into a technical solution, and making it so anyone in the Engineering organization can use it. You should be able to communicate effectively; Perch is a rapidly growing company, so it will be important that everyone in the DevOps organization is on the same page so we can effectively support any efforts by Engineering to get things into Production as efficiently as possible. No eCommerce or Amazon experience is required – we believe that with the right set of underlying capabilities, you can learn the industry context quickly.

Requirements

  • Experience with AWS tools such as EC2, ECS, RDS (Postgres), as well as IaaC tooling to provision, configure and deploy to them.
  • Knowledge in building, maintaining, and improving CI/CD pipelines to deploy applications in a timely, efficient, and highly available manner.
  • Practical experience with Docker containerization and clustering.
  • Experience with standard build tools and version control systems (git).
  • Ability to participate in development efforts of common tools and frameworks.
  • Ability to turn complex problems into simple solutions; translating technical details in simple terms to technical and non-technical employees alike.
  • Ability to drive and participate in technical discussions, collaborating with other engineers to brainstorm about the best way to tackle a complex technological infrastructure, security, or development problem.
  • Ability to lead and mentor other members of the Engineering team for DevOps best practices.
  • The ideal candidate will have 3+ years of experience in the fields of SRE, DevOps or production engineering.

Nice to Haves

  • Multi-cloud experience (we use AWS currently, strong possibility of utilizing GCP or Azure as a backup in the future)
  • Experience with managing a Kubernetes cluster (bonus points for hosted solutions like EKS or GKE)
