What we’re looking for:
Nexamp currently owns and operates a portfolio of 25+ hybrid solar + storage assets in the ISO New England Forward Capacity Market. Additional solar+ storage and standalone storage assets are expected to start commercially operating in new and existing ISO/RTO markets by EOY 2025. The Energy Market Operations Associate role will report to the Manager of Energy Markets Operations. This role will focus on supporting the Manager in facilitating ISO/RTO market operations, maintaining compliance in accordance with ISO/RTO regulations, researching new and existing market dynamics, assisting with the execution of REC transactions, and tracking regulatory changes relevant to our internally managed assets. The necessity of this role is twofold. The first is that this vertical of asset management will take on REC transactions which will take up significant time from the Manager and from the associate as it’s a completely new group of tasks that the manager cannot bear alone. The second reason is that this vertical is now playing a leading role in research on ISO policy which has become more prominent for open access DG, energy storage, and utility scale, as Nexamp seeks to diversify its business. Additionally, Nexamp is onboarding several new projects and getting rid of 3rd party support for its portfolio which means the basic functions of energy market operations need redundancy and resiliency across more than one person.
You will be hybrid out of Boston office. You will report to the Energy Markets Operations Manager.
What you’ll do:
- Maintain eligibility for assets in the market (milestone reporting, financial assurance).
- Assist in capacity market participation through bids and revenue tracking.
- Lead new ISO/RTO entity registration processes.
- Assist REC transactions by tracking project production and quarterly trades.
- Lead ISO/RTO billing reconciliation on a quarterly basis.
- Translate ISO regulations, market changes and available data into actionable intelligence to inform Nexamp’s operations and modeling functions.
- Coordinate State Program participation with the Regulatory Team.
- Support asset registration and asset commercialization audit processes.
- Comply with ISO/RTO Lead Market Participant requirements to maintain good standing.
- Attend policy working groups & ISO/RTO committee meetings as needed to track structural developments relevant to Nexamp assets.
What you’ll bring:
- 1-3 years of work experience in ISO/RTO markets, utility or energy company.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills.
- Basic proficiency in Microsoft Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Word, etc.).
- Team and collaborative environment oriented.
- Strong organization skill and ability to multitask across projects.
- Commitment to Nexamp's mission and have a passion for solving tomorrow's climate crisis today.
- Demonstrated experience in effectively communicating information, ideas, and perspectives with people inside and beyond your organization.
- Experience in showcasing initiative to make improvements to current work, processes, products, and services across the organization. We value accountability and an ownership mentality.
- Ability to ask appropriate questions, analyze data, identify the root causes of problems, and present creative solutions.
- Expertise in building strong internal and external relationships with customers and stakeholders, instilling trust and loyalty across the industry.
- Eagerness to develop a fundamental understanding of how Nexamp operates and then apply that knowledge effectively to inform business decisions.
If you don’t meet 100% of the above qualifications, but see yourself contributing, please apply.
