At the heart of Veeva are our values: Do the Right Thing, Customer Success, Employee Success, and Speed. As a Work Anywhere company, we support your flexibility to work from home or in the office, so you can thrive in your ideal environment.
Join us in transforming the life sciences industry, committed to making a positive impact on its customers, employees, and communities.
The ESBP role at Veeva is fiercely customer-centric—our "customers" being the internal managers and teams they lead. We call ourselves "Employee Success" (ES) because our focus is fundamentally different from traditional Human Resources. Modeling ourselves after high customer-service organizations like Starbucks and Disney, our core mission is Service Excellence. We view HR as an exercise in Operational Excellence rather than governance, with our true purpose being to enable, empower, and give energy to our internal partners so they can push the business of Veeva forward. We believe that Employee Success directly drives Customer Success.
Our Two Core Mandates
- Service Excellence & Trust: Build foundational credibility by delivering frictionless, high-quality support across core ES processes, helping managers drive excellence and create highly productive teams.
- Strategic Catalyst (The GM Mindset): Operate as a "business person who does ES." You will partner with business leaders, and you must think like a business leader yourself. Those who are successful in this role bring a General Manager's mindset to concepts like talent density and business velocity. Because Veeva managers own the employee lifecycle, your role is not to do the work for them, dictate how they manage the teams they lead, or define talent success on their behalf. Instead, you will empower manager independence, guiding them to drive their own solutions through critical thinking and autonomy. This stems from a deep understanding of the business. Your goal is to enable and advise leaders in aligning the right people to the right roles, building a performance culture that directly drives commercial outcomes.
What You'll Do
- Foster Manager Independence: Enable leaders to confidently own the employee lifecycle. Support managers in taking clear responsibility and accountability, acting as a partner who enables rather than does the work of a manager
- Defend Business Velocity: Proactively eliminate administrative friction so ES processes don't slow down the other functions. Support our core value of Speed by always trading off perfection for simplicity and certainty for clarity
- Elevate Commercial Critical Thinking: Support managers in tying their business objectives directly to their talent needs. Enable the critical thinking required to help managers align the right people to the right work for the right results
- Provide High-Impact Support: Enable managers with targeted guidance in employee relations, change management, and all manner of employee life-cycle support. Embody the Veeva principle of "Care, Notice, Act" to help leader see around corners and address talent misalignments quickly
- Operate as a Solutions Consultant: Earn your seat as a "business-person who does ES." Support the business by speaking its language rather than the language of HR, providing insights and support that actively enable them to solve commercial challenges through people rather than pushing standard HR cycles
- Support a Culture of Performance Excellence: Help managers build an unwavering performance culture. Enable them to rigorously lead their teams to drive execution with speed, accuracy, and quality
Requirements
- SaaS, Life Sciences or High Growth Literacy: Must have experience in a high-growth, Cloud/SaaS or life sciences environment, with the ability to articulate the value proposition of the products or services their company offered E.g., a Veeva ESBP should be able to articulate why our customers use any one of the Veeva products
- Commercial Acumen: Demonstrated experience partnering directly with Senior Leaders, General Managers or P&L owners. Candidates must be able to explain how team structures impact "Speed to Value" and "Product Market Fit"
- Org Architecture: Proven track record of designing or supporting leaders in designing "Strategic Talent Moats"—going beyond headcounts to building technical and domain expertise required to win against specific competitors and scale
- Data-Driven "Business Thinking": Ability to translate HR initiatives into commercial "So What?" statements. Candidates must show they have partnered with leaders to support or influence them in moving metrics like "Commercial Velocity" or "Customer Success Adoption" through people rather than just engagement scores or job satisfaction metrics; even if indirectly
- Outside-In Perspective: An understanding of the commercial landscape for the business's customers, as well as the ability to identify external market pressures that may make a manager's job harder
