About Seurat

Seurat is transforming manufacturing for people and our planet by delivering a scalable additive manufacturing solution to fundamentally change how products are made. Seurat’s proprietary Area Printing process, developed at Lawrence Livermore National Labs (LLNL), allows metal components to be manufactured at price points and quality levels that compete directly with conventional manufacturing techniques, enabling the reshoring of supply chains and promoting the decarbonization of industry. Seurat has raised over $180M and is backed by leading venture partners like Capricorn, NVentures (NVIDIA), True Ventures, General Motors Ventures, Denso, Porsche SE, SIP global partners, Honda, Xerox Ventures/Myriad Venture Partners, Cubit Capital, Siemens Energy, and Maniv Mobility.

We are currently seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented production engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will bring strong technical expertise in optical materials, cleanroom operations, and process development to support and improve our standard product manufacturing. This is an exciting opportunity to contribute to a growing organization at the forefront of electro-optical innovation, working alongside a dynamic team of engineers, technicians, and scientists.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Take full ownership of the production process for standard light valve (LV) products that have transitioned from technology development (TD) to product development (PD), ensuring efficient, high-quality manufacturing operations.
  • Oversee and maintain cleanroom equipment supporting PD activities; develop, specify, and manage fabrication tools and fixtures to support production needs.
  • Manage vendor relationships and maintain appropriate inventory levels for standard products and raw materials; track work-in-progress (WIP) across the production floor.
  • Ensure all production documentation—including drawings, procedures, and travelers—accurately reflects current processes; implement and document any approved deviations from standard procedures.
  • Monitor and enforce adherence to established production processes and procedures among manufacturing personnel.
  • Identify, define, and implement validation tests or inspection steps throughout the production process, maintaining traceability within all process documentation.
  • Develop and track key production metrics from incoming materials through final acceptance testing; leverage data to drive continuous process improvements and improve yield, throughput, and quality.
  • Apply knowledge of optical materials, coatings, and liquid crystal technologies in the development, processing, and testing of electro-optical components.
  • Interpret and create mechanical and assembly drawings as required for product and process development.
  • Communicate effectively across multidisciplinary teams to support seamless integration of engineering, manufacturing, and quality functions.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • B.S. in Engineering
  • 5+ years of experience in related fields
  • Liquid crystals
  • Photoconductors and physical optics
  • Experience developing, tracking, and improving production processes

Preferred:

  • Experience with characterization techniques such as Ellipsometry, UV-Vis spectroscopy, Atomic Force Microscopy, and Polarization Microscopy
  • Cleanroom operation including Deposition and Spin-Coating
  • Optical materials especially Anti Reflective Coatings and Transparent Conductive Oxides
  • Optical coating design and manufacturing

Physical Requirements:

Must be able to work for extended durations in a clean room environment. Must be able to travel to vendors when required and lift and carry weights not to exceed 20lbs.
