E-Commerce Manager

Location: Somerville, MA (HQ)
Work Type: Full-time

About the Role

We are looking for a hands-on, deeply curious E-commerce Manager to own and evolve the Janji digital storefront. This role is responsible for how Janji shows up online, from how products are merchandised and priced, to how the site performs, converts, and scales over time.

This is a player/coach role in that we’re looking for somebody to shape our e-commerce roadmap as well as execute it. You will spend most of your time working on the site personally, but also finding solutions through apps, freelancers, and agencies, to improve Janji’s online experience over time. You will work closely with Marketing, Creative, Product, CX, and Ops to turn ideas into real improvements that Janji customers can feel.

What You’ll Do
  • Own the day-to-day performance and evolution of janji.com on Shopify Plus, with a focus on conversion, merchandising, and customer experience
  • Drive consistent forward motion and implement site improvements, from PDPs and collections to navigation, pricing experiments, promotions, and launches
  • Plan and execute smooth, reliable product launches and reduce launch day chaos while improving speed to site
  • Own merchandising across collections and on-site storytelling to ensure products are thoughtfully featured, and promotions are intentional
  • Run ongoing conversion rate optimization initiatives across PDPs, pricing, site architecture, and checkout using data and testing tools like Triple Whale
  • Partner closely with Marketing, Creative, Product, CX, and Ops to ship site updates that support campaigns, storytelling, and customer needs
  • Build durable systems and processes for site updates, launches, QA, and merchandising so progress compounds over time
  • Work with external dev partners when needed and gradually reduce dependency by building internal capability
  • Stay current on e-commerce best practices, Shopify capabilities, and emerging tools
 What We’re Looking For
  • 3 to 7 or more years of e-commerce experience, ideally within a consumer brand
  • Deep hands-on experience with Shopify strongly preferred
  • Strong instincts around merchandising, PDP storytelling, UX, pricing, and conversion rate optimization
  • Comfortable owning outcomes and accountable for site performance, metrics, and shipping improvements
  • Highly organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage many small improvements in parallel
  • Brings strong analytical instincts and uses performance data to drive real, visible improvements to the site
  • Comfortable working with and productively pushing back on external dev partners
  • Bias toward action with a habit of testing, learning, and iterating quickly
  • Systems-minded and motivated to turn one-off fixes into repeatable processes
  • Collaborative, proactive, and comfortable owning ambiguous problems
  • Love of the outdoors, running, and trail running is a big plus
 Why This Role Matters

E-commerce is one of Janji’s most important growth engines. This role is critical to making our site feel better, convert better, and scale more intentionally over time.
You will be responsible for turning janji.com into a sharper, faster, more compelling experience for runners around the world, and for building the systems that allow that progress to compound. For the right person, this role can grow into broader leadership over time as Janji’s ecommerce function scales.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
