About the role

We are looking for a Docs Engineer to join our Documentation team. This is a hands-on role focused on building tools and systems that make our documentation best-in-class. You'll partner with the Documentation, Engineering, and Applied AI teams to design, build, and deploy automation that improves how thousands of developers learn and build with LangChain.

This role is ideal for someone excited to shape writer and user experience through tooling and automation. We're looking for a builder who can move quickly from ideas to production-ready solutions that delight our users.

What you will do:

  • Lead transformative tooling initiatives that improve documentation quality, unlock new ways for developers to interact with our docs, and drive a developer-first mindset across our documentation ecosystem.

  • Partner with Documentation, Engineering, and AI teams to identify high-impact opportunities for documentation automation and enhancement.

  • Design, build, and deploy CI/CD workflows that keep our docs in sync with our rapidly evolving codebase.

  • Own the frontend experience of our Mintlify-based documentation site, implementing custom features with Tailwind CSS and JavaScript.

  • Build and maintain GitHub Actions, linters, and automated checks that ensure documentation quality at scale.

  • Collaborate with our AI team to implement an intelligent support bot that helps developers find answers instantly.

  • Implement and optimize search functionality to make our extensive documentation easily discoverable.

  • Own projects end-to-end, from prototyping to production deployment, ensuring reliability and maintainability.

How to be successful in this role:

  • Developer-minded. Deep understanding of what makes great developer documentation and tooling. Ability to translate developer pain points into working solutions.

  • Experience: 1-3 years in software engineering, ideally with experience in developer tools or documentation platforms (startup experience a plus).

  • Full-stack skills: Strong JavaScript/TypeScript abilities with experience building both frontend interfaces and backend automation.

  • Frontend expertise: Proficiency with modern CSS (Tailwind CSS preferred) and ability to create polished, accessible user interfaces.

  • Automation mindset: Experience with CI/CD pipelines, GitHub Actions, and automated testing frameworks.

  • Engineering skills: Strong coding abilities with focus on building maintainable, scalable solutions.

  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal skills; able to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

  • Startup DNA: Comfortable in fast-moving environments where you'll help define processes and shape our documentation infrastructure.

  • Curiosity: Passionate about developer experience and staying current with documentation tools, automation practices, and frontend technologies.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with documentation platforms (Mintlify, Docusaurus, or similar)

  • Background working with LLMs or AI-powered applications

  • Experience implementing search solutions (Algolia, Elasticsearch, etc.)

  • Contributions to open-source projects, especially documentation or tooling

  • Python experience (our primary SDK language)

  • Technical writing or developer advocacy background

Compensation & Benefits

  • We offer competitive compensation that includes base salary, meaningful equity, and benefits such as health and dental coverage, flexible vacation, a 401(k) plan, and life insurance. Actual compensation will vary based on role, level, and location. For team members in the EU and UK, we provide locally competitive benefits aligned with regional norms and regulations.

  • Annual salary range: $145,000-$195,000 USD for Senior Engineers
