💻 Role
The Seller Growth Engineering team is responsible for growing sellers on Whatnot — enabling them to turn their hobbies into businesses. Within Seller Growth, the Platform pod ensures that this growth is sustainable, trustworthy, and scalable.
As a Senior Android Engineer on the Seller Growth Platform pod, you’ll design and build the mobile experiences and systems that sit at the heart of the new seller funnel — combining growth, trust, and scalability. Your work will directly shape how thousands of new sellers join and succeed on Whatnot every week.
Develop high-quality Android features using Kotlin and Jetpack Compose that enhance the seller onboarding, verification, and incentive journeys.
Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and backend teams to define goals, scope, and technical trade-offs.
Partner with data science to design and interpret experiments that measure seller success and improve funnel efficiency.
Contribute to the evolution of shared mobile infrastructure and best practices across Whatnot’s engineering teams.
Uphold engineering excellence through code reviews, documentation, and thoughtful discussions that raise the bar.
This pod works at the intersection of growth, trust, and platform-ization. You’ll be responsible for deeply technical systems (IDV, fraud signal repositories, seller enrichment pipelines, predictive models) that directly influence GMV, seller retention, and buyer trust. The pace is fast: every week, thousands of sellers apply to sell, and your work ensures that Whatnot can confidently scale this influx without compromising marketplace integrity.
Team members in this role are required to be within commuting distance of our San Francisco, Los Angeles, Seattle, or New York City hub.
