The Role:

We are seeking to expand the Experimental Therapeutic Biology team by recruiting a talented Director of Therapeutic Biology. The successful candidate will lead a team of scientists and RAs to employ our platform to unlock novel biology to advance our pipeline of therapeutics in oncology and other therapeutic areas . We are searching for a creative and highly motivated individual who is comfortable working in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment. The successful candidate will have extensive experience guiding therapeutic research, including leading early- and late-stage preclinical research programs, drafting regulatory filings and translating protein-based therapeutics to the clinic. Deep experience with antibody-drug conjugates (ADCs) is a plus. The candidate should have a sustained record as a strategic thinker and thoughtful and accomplished people leader.

Here's how you will contribute:


  • Be a thoughtful and creative leader of therapeutic research that includes a growing team of scientists and research associates.
  • Be a go-to expert in late-stage preclinical research for scientists across Generate.
  • Be a strategic thought partner in development of therapeutics from ideation of a therapeutic hypotheses through IND filings and phase 1.
  • Be a cross-functional program lead on fast-paced therapeutic programs
  • Identify and advance new opportunities, targets, and modalities and be an expert resource to guide BD opportunities.
  • Be an excellent people-leader within and across teams.

The Ideal Candidate will have:

  • Ph.D. in Biology, Biochemistry, Cancer Biology, Immunology or related field with 10+ years of experience conceptualizing and leading therapeutic research projects
  • Proven scientific leadership on global therapeutic product teams required.
  • Extended track record of being an outstanding leader and collaborator, a creative problem-solver, and a role model for your reports and colleagues.
  • Proven direct support of multiple IND and early Phase 1 stage therapeutics.
  • Deep knowledge of preclinical studies required for regulatory filings and clinical translation.
  • Strong experience with protein-based immunotherapies, preclinical cancer models, immunological techniques, cell biology and signal transduction pathways
  • Experience in and a passion for drug discovery in oncology and at least one other therapeutic area.
  • Antibody-drug conjugate (ADC) experience is a plus
  • Deep interest in translating our Machine Learning platform into medicines, including having a digital mindset and an ability to adapt to emerging technologies.
  • Ability to balance multiple projects and modalities and guide the growing portfolio
  • Growth mindset and desire to work in a fast-paced dynamic environment
  • Familiarity with computational and/or protein engineering techniques a plus
