What's the role?
We're seeking a Director of Technical Recruiting to build and lead our entire technical recruitment function. This role will be instrumental in scaling our engineering organization by establishing best-in-class recruitment processes, managing the full recruitment lifecycle, and ensuring we maintain our high bar for technical talent as we grow rapidly.
In this role, you will...
  • Own end-to-end technical recruitment strategy and execution, from pipeline development to offer closure
  • Design and implement comprehensive interview processes, assessment frameworks, and hiring rubrics
  • Work with Director of Talent to start headcount planning initiatives in partnership with engineering leadership
  • Establish and optimize recruitment operations, including interview coordination and candidate experience
  • Build and maintain relationships with external recruitment agencies and partners
  • Create and track recruitment metrics to ensure pipeline health and hiring effectiveness
  • Conduct technical screening interviews and train hiring managers on effective interviewing techniques
  • Develop innovative sourcing strategies to attract top technical talent
  • Drive employer branding initiatives to position Bilt as an employer of choice in the tech community

In terms of qualifications, we're seeking:
  • 7+ years of technical recruiting experience, with a mix of agency and in-house experience. Start-up work experience preferred.
  • Proven track record of building and scaling technical teams in high-growth environments
  • Strong understanding of technical roles and ability to evaluate engineering talent
  • Experience designing and implementing recruitment processes and operations from scratch
  • Excellent project management and organizational skills
  • Outstanding communication and relationship-building abilities
  • Experience working with external recruitment agencies and managing agency relationships
  • Deep knowledge of recruitment technologies: Greenhouse and Linkedin Recruiter
  • Track record of maintaining high hiring standards while meeting aggressive growth targets
  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience

Benefits:
  • Compensation - We offer a competitive salary with a meaningful stake in the company via equity and our performance bonus program.
  • Medical Insurance (for you and your loved one) - We offer a variety of different subsidized medical plans (with dental and vision), including a free HDHP with a company-sponsored HSA contribution. We have you covered from Day 1.
  • Wellness Benefits - Enjoy a One Medical Membership, Wellhub (Gympass) Access, family planning programs and more, on us.
  • 401k plan with a match - Retirement may feel more like a pipe dream than a reality but we're here to help you get there.
  • Commuter FSAs - We believe the best ideas come from being together in one place. We just don't think getting there should be so expensive.
  • UNLIMITED PTO - Because we believe that working hard shouldn't mean always working. Take time for yourself as often as you need it.
  • Exclusive Employee only Bilt Points - We give our employees unique opportunities to earn points throughout their time at Bilt.
  • Team Events - We believe in human connection so we hold events to help our employees break from the monotony of the typical work week.

At Bilt Rewards, we believe in transparency and we do our best to make sure the company and our candidates are on the same page as it relates to compensation. In addition to posting salary ranges for our open roles, candidates should expect to be asked about compensation expectations and requirements early on in their interview process. Our goal is to highlight when expectations and Bilt's salary range may be out of sync, and work with the candidate to determine whether it makes sense to continue conversations.
We are considering candidates with differing levels of expertise for this position. Leveling will be based upon your experience and performance in the interview process.
Where a new hire falls within a range will be based on their individual skills and experience, and how these competencies compare across other employees in the same role. Bilt's bands are designed to allow for individual compensation growth within the role. As such, new hires typically start at the lower end of the range. Bilt rewards performance and outcomes - should you join the company, you will have the opportunity to grow your salary over time.
The salary range for a Director, Technical Recruiting is $115,000 - 160,000 and will be eligible for equity and an annual performance-based bonus.

What you need to know about the Boston Tech Scene

Boston is a powerhouse for technology innovation thanks to world-class research universities like MIT and Harvard and a robust pipeline of venture capital investment. Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. So it’s no surprise that the city consistently ranks among the greatest startup ecosystems in the world.

Key Facts About Boston Tech

  • Number of Tech Workers: 269,000; 9.4% of overall workforce (2024 CompTIA survey)
  • Major Tech Employers: Thermo Fisher Scientific, Toast, Klaviyo, HubSpot, DraftKings
  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
