We’re looking for an experienced, strategic leader to join our Operations Leadership Team as Director of Supply Planning. This role will oversee raw material planning and finished goods planning. The Director will lead a team of five, fostering collaboration, driving process excellence, and serving as a thought leader in shaping the future of our supply chain capabilities.

The Director of Supply Planning will play a critical role in ensuring alignment between commercial demand, manufacturing capacity, and supply continuity—while delivering on operational goals related to fill rates, material utilization, repositioning of inventory, and overall margin.  This individual will add strategic insights into the development of the short- and long-term sourcing strategy.

Responsibilities

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing planning team across raw materials, and finished goods.
  • Serve as a key member of operations leadership, contributing to overall strategy, priorities, and cross-functional alignment.
  • Establish best-in-class planning processes, tools, and capabilities to support scale and long-term growth.

Planning & Execution

  • Own supply planning, production scheduling, and allocation.
  • Lead and ensure S&OP process governance, ensuring effective integration between commercial, operations, and finance teams to deliver balanced supply plans.
  • Partner with end-to-end supply chain and commercial teams to align production, distribution, and service objectives while helping to minimize working capital and obsolescence.
  • Drive raw material and ingredient forecasts in both short-term and long-range horizons, ensuring purchasing execution aligns with demand.

Systems, Data & Process Excellence

  • Champion continuous improvement in ERP and planning systems (NetSuite or equivalent), driving accuracy and efficiency.
  • Lead initiatives to enhance inventory control, accuracy, and visibility across co-packers, suppliers, and 3PLs.
  • Identify, implement, and institutionalize process improvements and best practices that increase scalability and resilience.

Financial & Business Impact

  • Develop and own planning-related budgets, forecasts, and COGS targets, ensuring execution meets or exceeds goals.
  • Drive productivity initiatives that improve service, reduce costs, and enhance working capital performance.
  • Provide scenario planning, risk assessment, and decision support for executive leadership.

Deliverables

  • Lead a high-performing planning organization that enhances collaboration, agility, and business impact.
  • Optimize service levels while minimizing working capital and waste.
  • Support in the development of one-, three-, and five-year operating plans that align with growth, innovation, and operational strategy.
  • Support continuous improvement and digital transformation initiatives to position supply chain as a competitive advantage.

Requirements

The fast-paced growth of our business will require a candidate who will be able to draw from a depth of experience to organize and prioritize and manage through everyday challenges while seeking to build capabilities and processes ahead of where we are today.

  • Leadership:  Demonstrated success in leading teams and planning functions within consumer packaged goods or similar industries.  Ability to influence at senior leadership levels and drive collaboration and alignment across commercial and operational teams.  Comfortable operating in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial, growth-oriented environment.
  • Education:  Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain, Operations, Finance, or related discipline (Master’s preferred).
  • Experience: 8+ years of progressive experience in supply chain planning. Deep understanding of end-to-end supply chain processes, including demand planning, production scheduling, inventory management, and S&OP.
  • Analytical Skills:   Strong analytical skills, with the ability to translate data into insights and actionable strategies.  Ability to lead others to build strong analytical models.
  • Technical Skills: Advanced computer literacy: MS Excel expertise required; ERP planning systems (NetSuite or equivalent) strongly preferred.
  • Communication skills: Experience presenting to senior audiences, ability to distill complex scenarios into digestible and actionable takeaways
  • Ability to work in office in our Newton HQ office ~4 days per week.

Benefits

The salary range for this position is $150,000 to $170,000 and is dependent on the candidate’s experience prior to joining Spindrift. In addition, we offer the following compensation and benefits:
