Job Overview

The Director, Supply Chain & Procurement establishes and leads CleanSpark's enterprise procurement and supply chain function. Operating as a shared service, this role supports the company's mining, AI data center, energy, technology, operations, and corporate teams through consistent sourcing practices, supplier governance, purchasing controls, supply-risk management, and visibility into enterprise spend. The Director builds a scalable operating model while partnering with business leaders to translate operating plans, capital programs, and technical requirements into sourcing and supply strategies that improve cost, quality, delivery, and business continuity.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute enterprise procurement, supply chain, and category strategies aligned with CleanSpark's operating plans, capital priorities, growth initiatives, and risk profile.
  • Lead the end-to-end strategic sourcing process, including intake, market analysis, requests for information and proposal, bid evaluation, supplier selection, commercial negotiation, and contract coordination with Legal.
  • Partner with business units to define requirements, consolidate demand, evaluate total cost of ownership, and develop sourcing approaches that support technical, operational, financial, and schedule objectives.
  • Own enterprise strategy for critical and long-lead equipment, including demand planning, supplier-capacity analysis, strategic supplier relationships, reservations, framework agreements, delivery assurance, and contingency planning.
  • Establish supplier performance and risk-management practices addressing quality, delivery, cost, responsiveness, capacity, financial stability, market conditions, tariffs, and logistics constraints.
  • Develop and maintain enterprise procurement policies and controls, including delegation-of-authority requirements, competitive-bid standards, vendor onboarding, purchase-order discipline, conflict-of-interest expectations, and approval workflows.
  • Partner with Finance, Accounts Payable, Legal, Commercial Operations, Technology, and business-unit stakeholders to strengthen procure-to-pay workflows, contract handoffs, supplier data, invoice resolution, and spend visibility across NetSuite, Tipalti, the PMIS, and related systems.
  • Oversee supply-chain execution for assigned categories, including expediting, logistics, freight, import coordination, inventory strategy, site delivery, and issue resolution when required.
  • Establish procurement reporting and performance measures, including savings and cost avoidance, sourcing cycle time, contract coverage, supplier performance, on-time delivery, supply risk, and purchasing compliance.
  • Recruit, lead, and develop procurement and supply chain team members as the function scales; establish clear roles, service expectations, operating rhythms, and accountability across the team. Perform additional duties as assigned.
  • This role requires professionalism, respect, sound judgment, strong communication, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively with others in a collaborative, team-oriented, and inclusive environment.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, business, finance, engineering, construction management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • Ten or more years of progressive procurement, strategic sourcing, supply chain, or category-management experience involving complex capital and enterprise spend.
  • Demonstrated experience building, centralizing, or significantly improving a procurement or supply chain function serving multiple business units or operating groups.
  • Strong commercial and negotiation experience involving master agreements, purchase agreements, framework or capacity arrangements, statements of work, pricing structures, delivery commitments, and supplier performance requirements.
  • Experience developing procurement policies, approval workflows, sourcing standards, supplier-governance practices, and internal controls, supported by ERP, procure-to-pay, supplier-management, and project information systems.
  • Demonstrated people leadership, including setting priorities, developing team members, managing performance, and establishing accountability.
  • Strong analytical, financial, negotiation, communication, and stakeholder-management skills, with the ability to use spend and performance data to guide decisions.
  • Ability to travel to company locations, project sites, supplier facilities, and other business locations as required.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Procurement or supply chain experience in data centers, energy, digital infrastructure, industrial operations, construction, or technology hardware, including long-lead or mission-critical equipment.
  • Experience with international suppliers, freight and logistics, customs, tariffs, supplier quality, factory testing, or delivery assurance.
  • Professional certification such as CPSM, CSCP, CPM, or an equivalent procurement or supply chain credential.

This position may involve duties that require operation of a company vehicle or travel between job sites. As such, candidates must be insurable under CleanSpark's vehicle insurance policy.

  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
