The Role

Wpromote is looking for a Director, Digital Media Investment to lead the day-to-day management and continued development of our media investment function. Initially operating as an individual contributor, you will ensure agency spend, partner commitments, and commercial agreements are strategically managed to maximize client value, strengthen Wpromote’s negotiating position, and improve commercial outcomes. Reporting to the Vice President, Media Investment, you will work closely with leaders across Media, Commercial Strategy, Sales, Finance, Legal, Partnerships, and Revenue Operations.
You will manage the operational execution of Joint Business Plans, upfront commitments, incentive programs, and other strategic investment agreements, while building the infrastructure, reporting, and processes needed to manage these programs at scale. The ideal candidate combines deep media investment expertise with strong financial acumen, operational discipline, and executive-level business judgment. You are comfortable moving between negotiation strategy and detailed execution, translating complex agreements into actionable plans, and building a centralized investment function that provides greater visibility into agency commitments, partner value, and commercial opportunities.

You Will Be

  • Owning Wpromote’s media investment function and strategically managing agency spend to maximize client value and commercial outcomes
  • Developing investment strategies across priority media partners, including Joint Business Plans (JBPs), upfront commitments, incentive programs, and principal commercial agreements
  • Providing investment and negotiation recommendations based on agency spend, forecasting, client needs, historical performance, marketplace dynamics, and partner opportunities
  • Managing strategic investment agreements from negotiation through activation, pacing, reconciliation, and value realization
  • Translating negotiated agreements into clear activation plans, ownership models, and requirements for internal teams
  • Establishing processes and controls that provide visibility into partner commitments, risks, opportunities, and earned, outstanding, and deployed value
  • Partnering with Finance, Legal, Commercial Strategy, and Revenue Operations to ensure accurate documentation, invoicing, reconciliation, and recognition of commercial agreements
  • Supporting priority pitches and RFPs under $50 million by leading media exercises, commercial analyses, and investment recommendations
  • Translating Wpromote’s investment scale, partner agreements, and commercial advantages into tangible client value propositions
  • Serving as the connective point across Media, Sales, Partnerships, Finance, Legal, and Commercial Strategy for investment-related initiatives
  • Building and continuously improving Wpromote’s investment infrastructure by developing scalable tools, reporting, documentation, and agency-wide operating standards, including the deals library and investment trackers
  • Driving automation and AI integration across investment reporting, forecasting, pacing, reconciliation, and opportunity identification
  • Establishing reporting and success metrics that connect investment activity to client value, partner performance, revenue, profitability, and value realization
  • Building trusted relationships across the media ecosystem while serving as a senior internal resource on investment strategy, partner economics, and commercial opportunities
  • Mentoring colleagues and contributing to a collaborative, accountable, and continuously learning culture
  • Potentially hiring, managing, and developing team members as the function grows, with future direct-report responsibility considered part of the evolving scope of the Director role

You Must Have

  • 6-8 years of experience in media investment, media buying, agency commercial strategy, or a related discipline, ideally within a major agency, holding company, or scaled independent agency
  • Experience managing significant media investment across multiple channels, with linear television, CTV, and streaming experience highly valued
  • Demonstrated experience negotiating and managing agency-level upfronts, JBPs, spend commitments, incentive structures, and principal commercial agreements from activation through reconciliation
  • Strong knowledge of traditional investment principles and the evolving media ecosystem, including programmatic, major platforms, retail media, and emerging channels
  • Deep understanding of investment economics, including forecasting, commitments, incentives, rebates, credits, added value, makegoods, margin impact, and value realization
  • Ability to leverage agency spend, commercial agreements, and partner relationships to create incremental client and agency value
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen, with the ability to translate investment data into negotiation strategies, commercial recommendations, and executive-level decisions
  • Experience building scalable processes, reporting, systems, and controls for a growing investment function
  • Strong program management skills and the ability to bring structure, sound judgment, and accountability to complex or evolving initiatives
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to influence senior leaders, clients, partners, and cross-functional teams
  • Ability to balance strategic leadership with hands-on execution in a highly matrixed organization
  • Experience mentoring colleagues and managing and developing team members as the function grows
  • Established relationships across the media owner, platform, and advertising ecosystem are a plus
  • A collaborative and inclusive leadership style grounded in curiosity, accountability, and continuous improvement
