Job Description

We are seeking a Director or Senior Director of Procurement. This role is responsible for leading and optimizing the company’s global procurement and purchasing operations. This strategic leadership role reports to the CFO and ensures cost-effective sourcing, supply reliability, risk management, and supplier partnerships that support the company’s objectives. The Sr Director, Procurement will implement LEAN principles to drive efficiency, eliminate waste, and enhance value across procurement functions while ensuring compliance with industry regulations and corporate governance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Procurement Leadership: Develop and execute a global procurement strategy aligned with the company’s business objectives, ensuring a cost effective, agile and resilient supply chain.
  • Supplier Relationship Management: Build and maintain strategic partnerships with key suppliers to ensure diversity, quality, reliability, and cost-effectiveness while fostering innovation.
  • LEAN Process Optimization: Apply LEAN methodologies to procurement operations, driving continuous improvement, waste reduction, and enhanced operational efficiency.
  • Risk Management & Compliance: Monitor industry trends and market dynamics. Implement risk mitigation strategies, ensuring supplier compliance with life sciences industry regulations, ethical sourcing policies, and sustainability goals.
  • Cost Optimization: Identify and execute cost-saving initiatives through data-driven negotiations, process improvements, and demand planning.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Promote partnership with business and regulatory teams to ensure procurement supports product development, production, and commercialization goals.
  • Technology & Digital Transformation: Leverage procurement technology and analytics to enhance visibility, streamline operations, and improve decision-making.
  • Talent Development: Build, develop and lead a high-performing procurement team, fostering a culture of excellence, collaboration, and continuous learning.
  • Indirect Category Management: Drive the strategic management and consolidation of indirect spend categories, optimizing supplier partnerships, reducing costs, and aligning with business objectives.
  • Direct Material Category Management: Oversee strategic sourcing and management of direct material categories, ensuring cost efficiency, supply continuity, and alignment with operating company needs and business objectives.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or a related field; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • 10+ years of procurement and supply chain leadership experience, preferably in the life sciences, biotech, or pharmaceutical industry.
  • Proven experience managing a global procurement portfolio or business with an annual revenue exceeding $700 million.
  • Strong expertise in LEAN strategies, Six Sigma, or other operational excellence methodologies.
  • Proven track record of leading transformational procurement initiatives and driving cost efficiencies without compromising quality.
  • Deep knowledge of global sourcing, supplier risk management, and regulatory requirements in the life sciences sector.
  • Experience with procurement technologies and data analytics tools.
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
  • Ability to navigate a fast-paced, complex regulatory environment while maintaining a strategic vision for procurement.

United States Base Compensation: $206,000.00 - $258,000.00

The posted pay range for this position is an estimate based on current market data and internal pay structure. Final compensation may vary above or below this range depending on factors such as experience, education (including licensure and certifications),  qualifications, performance, and geographic location, among other relevant business or organizational needs.
