Artisan Partners’ International Value Group is seeking an experienced sales professional to expand the team’s reach into the fixed income, credit and alternatives investor universe, with an initial focus on building Global Special Situations (GSS) into a meaningful part of the group’s business. This is an opportunity to work directly with the seasoned GSS investment team at an important stage in the strategy’s development.

GSS is a flexible, catalyst-driven strategy investing globally across credit, equity and hybrid securities in public and private markets. The team focuses on high-quality businesses where corporate change, capital structure complexity or a limited natural buyer base creates mispricing. Through a concentrated portfolio of select investments, GSS pursues equity-like upside while maintaining a credit investor’s focus on downside protection.

This is a hands-on business development role for an experienced fundraiser who can originate and source new opportunities. The individual will develop new institutional relationships, identify and qualify prospective investors, and work closely with the GSS investment team to communicate the strategy and advance qualified prospects through the diligence process.

Over time, the role will support the broader $55 billion International Value Group platform, leveraging new relationships across the alternatives and fixed income universe to drive growth across GSS, International Value, International Explorer and future platform expansion capabilities.

Salary Range: $150,000 - $200,000

Specific placement within the provided range will be determined by an individual’s geographic location as well as relevant experience and skills for the role. Base salary is only one component of our total compensation package. Associates may be eligible for a discretionary bonus, which is determined based on Firm and individual performance.

Responsibilities

The candidate is expected to:

  • Build and actively manage a pipeline of investors across the alternatives, credit and hedge fund universe, including family offices, multi-family offices, funds of funds, endowments and foundations, pensions, consultants and other specialist alternatives allocators.
  • Originate new relationships beyond the existing IVG networks through targeted outreach, industry relationships, conferences, capital introduction networks and other business development channels.
  • Leverage an existing network within the credit and alternatives community to generate high-quality introductions and prospective investor meetings.
  • Execute a disciplined sales plan, identify and prioritize actionable prospects, and drive qualified opportunities through the sales process.
  • Work closely with Brian Louko (portfolio manager) and Scott Bartley (Director) to develop a clear, consistent and compelling articulation of the GSS investment philosophy, process, portfolio construction, performance expectations and differentiation.
  • Lead initial investor conversations and coordinate deeper investment diligence with the investment team as opportunities progress.
  • Develop a strong understanding of prospective investors’ portfolios, objectives and decision-making processes to assess fit and prioritize opportunities.
  • Gather and synthesize market feedback to help the team understand investor needs, recurring diligence questions and potential barriers to adoption while preserving the integrity of the investment approach.
  • Partner across Artisan’s broader distribution resources to identify relationships and create relevant introductions.
  • Represent GSS and, as appropriate, the broader IVG platform at relevant alternatives conferences, investor events, roadshows and other industry forums.
  • Maintain disciplined pipeline management, documenting outreach, investor feedback, next steps and progression through the sales process.
Qualifications

The successful candidate will possess strong analytical skills and attention to detail. Additionally, the ideal candidate will possess:

  • 7+ years of sales and capital formation experience, with a demonstrated record of raising assets.
  • Experience raising assets for hedge funds or other alternative strategies; experience with credit-oriented strategies is particularly relevant.
  • A demonstrated track record of originating new investor relationships and raising assets, ideally for newer funds or strategies.
  • An established network among institutional alternatives, credit and hedge fund investors.
  • A strong new-business orientation, with demonstrated success prospecting, originating relationships and building a pipeline from the ground up.
  • The ability to credibly communicate and commercialize complex investment strategies and engage in substantive conversations with sophisticated investors.
  • Strong judgment regarding investor fit, relationship development and when to engage investment professionals and other senior resources.
  • Strong communication, relationship-management and interpersonal skills.
  • The ability to collaborate effectively with investment professionals, senior business leaders and distribution colleagues across the firm.
  • Ability and willingness to travel extensively.
  • FINRA Series 7 and 63 licenses required.
