Title: Director of Project Management
Location: Rochester, NY; hybrid candidates considered with monthly on-site presence
The objective of the Role: The Director of Project Management will lead our team of Project Managers who deliver exceptional professional services to our clients. This role will be responsible for establishing and maintaining project management standards, overseeing resource allocation, and ensuring successful delivery of cloud transformation initiatives across our client portfolio. Initially, a 50% utilization as an active player/coach PM is required.

Required Experience for the Role:
1. Minimum of 10+ years of experience in project management, with at least 5 years in a leadership role
2. Proven experience building and optimizing a project management office in a professional services environment
3. Experience with AWS cloud projects or similar technology transformations
4. Strong understanding of project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, Waterfall)
5. High proficiency with project management tools and systems (e.g., Jira, Smartsheet)
6. Track record of successful project delivery within scope, budget, and timeline
7. Experience with resource management and capacity planning
8. Demonstrated ability to manage client relationships and expectations
9. Demonstrated ability to balance business outcomes with technical implementation
Preferred Experience for the Role:
1. AWS certification (Cloud Practitioner, AWS Business accreditation, etc)
2. Experience working in an AWS Premier Partner or cloud consulting organization
3. Agile certification highly recommended (CSM, SAFe, etc.)
4. Experience with cloud migration, modernization, and transformation projects
5. Knowledge of AWS Well-Architected Framework and its implementation in projects
6. Experience with PMO establishment and optimization
7. Experience with project financial management, forecasting, and reporting

Resource Management
1. Oversee resource allocation across multiple client engagements
2. Balance team workloads and optimize utilization
3. Coordinate with delivery teams to ensure appropriate staffing
4. Plan for capacity needs based on sales pipeline and forecasts
5. Collaborate with other department leaders on cross-functional resourcing
Client Delivery and Satisfaction
1. Ensure consistent, high-quality project delivery
2. Oversee project health and intervene when necessary
3. Maintain high client satisfaction scores
4. Identify and resolve delivery issues before they impact client relationships
5. Serve as escalation point for complex client situations
Business Performance
1. Track and report on key performance metrics for the PMO
2. Manage project profitability and financial performance
3. Identify opportunities for increased efficiency and cost savings
