About the Role

The Director of Product Operations is a key leader responsible for scaling and optimizing product development processes, tools, and practices to enable the product organization to operate at its highest potential. Sitting at the intersection of Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Go-To-Market (GTM), this role ensures alignment, data-informed decision-making, and operational excellence.

At our stage of growth, this leader will establish stronger operating rhythms, implement best-in-class frameworks, and ensure product managers, designers, and engineers have the clarity, processes, and support needed to deliver impact. The ideal candidate has experience building operational discipline in high-growth SaaS environments, is hands-on when necessary, and can also influence executives with data and insights.

How you’ll make an impact

Product Operations Leadership

  • Build and lead the Product Operations function to support product strategy, execution, and measurement.

  • Establish and refine product management processes, including roadmapping, prioritization, release management, and launch readiness.

  • Implement and refine scalable tools and systems to centralize product information and reporting.

  • Create onboarding programs and repeatable playbooks to ensure consistency and speed-to-impact for product teams.

  • Define and embed best practices for discovery, roadmap hygiene, retrospectives, and GTM enablement.

Strategy & Execution Alignment

  • Drive annual and quarterly product planning cycles, ensuring roadmaps are strategically aligned and grounded in customer and market insights.

  • Ensure seamless alignment with GTM functions on pricing, packaging, positioning, enablement, and customer communications.

  • Build scalable systems for collecting, categorizing, and prioritizing customer feedback, ensuring insights flow into strategy and executive decision-making.

  • Identify bottlenecks and inefficiencies, and implement improvements that increase velocity without adding bureaucracy.

  • Define and enforce organizational readiness frameworks for major launches, ensuring cross-functional coordination.

Data & Insights

  • Define and manage key product performance metrics to track adoption, engagement, retention, and revenue impact.

  • Enable data-driven decision-making through accessible analytics, reporting frameworks, and executive dashboards.

  • Partner with Finance to model product investments, pricing impacts, and ROI.

  • Build frameworks to measure adoption and expansion impact across customer segments.

  • Implement and manage Voice of Customer practices such as advisory boards, feedback loops, and early adopter programs.

  • Ensure product operations processes directly support growth and retention objectives (ARR, NRR, churn, expansion).

Leadership & Influence

  • Serve as the connective tissue across Product, Engineering, Design, and GTM to drive alignment and execution.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships across teams, surfacing risks, dependencies, and opportunities proactively.

  • Mentor and coach product managers and operations professionals, strengthening skills in strategy, execution, and stakeholder management.

  • Lead and manage a high-performing team with clear objectives, feedback, and professional development support.

  • Act as a trusted advisor to the Product leadership and broader executive teams, distilling complex data into clear narratives that drive alignment.

Requirements
  • 10+ years in Product Management and/or Product Operations, including 5+ years in leadership at a SaaS company.

  • Proven ability to build operational frameworks from the ground up in high-growth environments.

  • Strong program management skills, able to juggle multiple priorities and hold teams accountable.

  • Deep understanding of SaaS metrics (ARR, NRR, CAC, LTV, adoption, churn, etc.) and how to align them with product goals.

  • Experience mentoring product managers and operations professionals.

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills, able to influence executives and inspire teams cross-functionally.

  • Hands-on with modern product and collaboration tools.

  • Strategic thinker with a data-driven mindset and a bias for action.

Nice to Haves
  • Experience leading product operations at a company scaling from $20M–$100M ARR.

  • Background in both strategic planning and tactical execution of product launches.

  • Demonstrated ability to build and lead small but high-impact teams.

  • $200,000 - $250,000, depending on experience.

  • Fully remote position

  • Key Industries: Artificial intelligence, biotechnology, robotics, software, aerospace
  • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
  • Notable Investors: Summit Partners, Volition Capital, Bain Capital Ventures, MassVentures, Highland Capital Partners
  • Research Centers and Universities: MIT, Harvard University, Boston College, Tufts University, Boston University, Northeastern University, Smithsonian Astrophysical Observatory, National Bureau of Economic Research, Broad Institute, Lowell Center for Space Science & Technology, National Emerging Infectious Diseases Laboratories
