About the Role
The Director of Procurement leads Fairfield’s purchasing and rebate programs, supplier network, and procurement policies and systems across the organization. In this role, you will drive strategic sourcing, negotiate multi-million-dollar supplier agreements, and partner closely with internal stakeholders to ensure communities and projects have the products and services they need—at the right quality, cost, and timing.
This is a fully remote role. Preference will be given to candidates who can work from regions that align with Fairfield’s established market presence. While several preferred markets are noted, only one position is open.
What You'll Do
Below is a snapshot of what this role is all about. While there is more to it, this is the core focus.
Lead Procurement Strategy & Programs
• Develop and implement Fairfield purchasing and rebate programs and actively manage them once established
• Own, communicate, and be accountable for the implementation of the procurement strategy
• Build and continually enhance a best-in-class supplier network
• Provide oversight, training, and guidance on purchasing to team members
• Recruit, hire, and support the development of direct reports
Drive Best Practices & Cost Management
• Identify and implement procurement best practices
• Identify and realize cost-saving and cost-reduction opportunities
• Optimize procurement systems and tools used to support purchasing activities
• Own and maintain procurement policies and related scorecard metrics
• Lead annual procurement planning, including spend analysis and sourcing roadmaps
Manage Supplier Sourcing, Contracting & Relationships
• Design and monitor supplier scorecard metrics
• Continually source new and better products, subcontractors, and material suppliers at local and national levels
• Develop and oversee effective bidding, negotiating, and contracting processes and systems
• Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and ensure approved vendors/products are utilized at all communities
• Negotiate master and national contracts to optimize pricing, service levels, and terms
Lead National Programs & Ensure Compliance
• Establish national accounts to maximize pricing and product availability
• Participate in company-required training by established deadlines
• Comply with all Fairfield standards, health and safety rules and regulations, and applicable local, state and federal laws
• Collaborate with cross-functional partners to ensure procurement activities and contracts meet regulatory and policy requirements

What We're Looking ForEducation & Certifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Finance, or a related field preferred
• Equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered in lieu of a bachelor’s degree
Experience
• A minimum of 5 years of Management Experience
• A minimum of 2 years of Service Management Experience
• Previous experience with multi-million-dollar product and supplier negotiations
• Proven track record as a team player and an effective manager
• Experience leading procurement or strategic sourcing functions, ideally within real estate, construction, development, or a related industry
• Experience implementing procurement policies, systems, and reporting tools at scale
Skills & Competencies
• Design and implement long-term sourcing and logistics strategies across all company verticals
• Strong working knowledge of inventory planning, forecasting techniques as well as operational systems
• Anticipate market trends, price shifts, and supply chain risks to secure favorable purchasing agreements
• Build strong relationships with manufacturers, distributors, and suppliers to create partnerships that drive measurable cost savings
• Partner effectively with all internal Fairfield stakeholders to ensure purchasing agreements are integrated seamlessly into project delivery
• Strong ability to handle objections and manage diverse situations
• Inquisitive, detail-oriented with strong quantitative analytical skills and an innovative approach to problem solving
• Strong written communication, organizational and presentation skills required
• Able to manage multiple projects, effectively using multi-disciplinary resources to meet demands
• Demonstrate effective negotiating skills
• Demonstrate sound judgment in matters of discretion
• Must be able to work autonomously, exercise good judgment and take decisive action
• Proficient in MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Reporting and Analysis Tools

Estimated Rate of Pay:

$144,800.00 - $209,400.00

This position is exempt; the range above reflects annual salary.

The pay range displayed for this position is determined by skills and experience required, location and job complexity*. Potential job offers may vary based on the skills, education, and experience an individual candidate holds. This range reflects base rate only, and does not include allowances, perks, commissions or bonuses applicable to this position (if any). In addition to base salary, Fairfield offers all full time associates the following, upon meeting eligibility requirements:

* Pay range is a calculation based on a midpoint price. Fairfield complies with all wage and hour laws, including minimum wage and salary exempt requirements.
