Overview

As the Director of Procurement, you will be a change leader responsible for designing and scaling a best-in-class, global procurement function for a fast-growing, private equity–backed IT managed services provider serving healthcare and financial services organizations.

At its core, this role is about enabling an outstanding client experience—both externally for our clients and internally for the teams that rely on procurement to deliver timely, accurate, and trusted outcomes. Our clients depend on us to operate their technology environments and protect their data. Procurement plays a critical role in building and sustaining that trust by ensuring the right solutions are sourced, governed, and delivered with consistency, transparency, and accountability.

You will bring outside perspective, proven operating models, and modern thinking to elevate procurement into a strategic enablement function—one that supports recurring managed services, complex software and licensing models, and global service delivery while aligning closely with service delivery, engineering, finance, sales, and security teams.

This role offers a rare opportunity to build and shape procurement at scale: integrating acquisitions, modernizing tools and workflows, and developing a high-performing team that strengthens client confidence, improves internal velocity, and supports long-term growth across highly regulated industries.

Role and Responsibilities

Strategic Leadership & Vision

  • Define and execute a global procurement strategy aligned to managed services delivery.
  • Transition procurement from a reactive ordering function into a proactive, data-driven service capability.
  • Establish procurement as a trusted internal partner across engineering, finance, service delivery, sales, security, and operations.
  • Lead procurement integration efforts across mergers and acquisitions, rationalizing vendors, contracts, tools, and teams.

Procurement Operations & Enablement

  • Oversee end-to-end procurement for client hardware, software, cloud services, and licensing across a global client base.
  • Build scalable, standardized procurement workflows that balance speed, accuracy, margin protection, and client experience.
  • Own inventory strategy and controls across multiple physical locations, ensuring visibility, accountability, and optimization.
  • Lead the implementation and optimization of procurement workflows within ServiceNow and related platforms.
  • Lead post-merger integration of different procurement teams, processes and systems.

Software & License Management

  • Establish and grow a centralized software and license management capability, embedded within service delivery.
  • Ensure licenses are accurately procured, tracked, renewed, and billed across client environments.
  • Integrate license management systems with finance (billing), CRM, and ITSM platforms to enable lifecycle visibility and automation.
  • Reduce client risk and internal friction through consistent license governance and compliance.

Vendor & Commercial Management

  • Own strategic vendor relationships, including contract negotiations, renewals, pricing frameworks, and performance management.
  • Reduce vendor sprawl and complexity through rationalization and preferred partner strategies.
  • Partner with finance and executive leadership to improve procurement margin, predictability, and cost controls.
  • Collaborate with the Director of Product Management to operationalize new and updated services.
  • Ensure vendors align with healthcare and financial regulatory expectations, security requirements, and service standards.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing procurement organization.
  • Assess current team structure and capabilities; reorganize or upskill as needed to support future growth.
  • Establish clear roles, operating rhythms, KPIs, and accountability across the team.
  • Foster a culture of ownership, continuous improvement, and service-minded execution.

Objectives

  • Build a world-class procurement function designed for a global IT services provider.
  • Reduce friction between client demand, service delivery, and procurement execution.
  • Expand procurement scope from hardware-only to full software and licensing lifecycle management.
  • Improve speed, consistency, and transparency of client-facing procurement activities.
  • Successfully integrate procurement capabilities across acquired entities.
  • Establish tooling, automation, and reporting that scales with company growth.

Success Metrics

Success in this role will be measured by:

  • Average turnaround time from client request to fulfilled order
  • Procurement gross margin (hardware, software, and licensing)
  • Procurement-related CSAT and internal stakeholder satisfaction
  • Percentage of client licenses centrally managed through approved systems
  • Procurement revenue contribution as a percentage of non-recurring revenue
  • Successful implementation and adoption of ServiceNow for global procurement workflows
  • Reduction in vendor sprawl and improved contract governance
  • Effectiveness of post-acquisition procurement integration

Qualifications

  • 12–18+ years of progressive experience, including senior leadership roles in procurement, vendor management, or commercial operations.
  • Demonstrated success building or transforming procurement organizations within IT services, MSPs, SaaS-enabled services, or complex technology-driven environments.
  • Experience operating outside of traditional VAR models, with a strong understanding of managed services economics and recurring revenue structures.
  • Proven ability to lead procurement through periods of scale, complexity, and M&A integration.
  • Deep experience negotiating and governing hardware, software, cloud, and licensing agreements at enterprise scale.
  • Strong understanding of regulatory, security, and compliance considerations in healthcare and/or financial services environments.
  • Executive-level communication skills with the ability to influence across finance, operations, sales, service delivery, and executive leadership.
  • Comfortable being accountable for outcomes, not just processes, in a fast-moving, PE-backed environment.

Why This Role Matters

Procurement is no longer a back-office function—it is a strategic enabler of service excellence, client trust, and margin performance. This role offers the opportunity to build something enduring: a procurement organization designed for scale, compliance, and long-term value creation in a global managed services business.

Benefits

  • Competitive compensation and performance-based incentives
  • Comprehensive benefits package including medical, dental, vision, disability, life insurance, 401(k), and PTO
  • Exposure to a broad range of technologies, vendors, and global operations
  • Career growth opportunities within a high-performing, investor-backed organization
  • Collaborative, high-accountability culture focused on outcomes and continuous improvement
