The Catalant Practice Community supports independent consultants in building and growing their practices, both within and beyond the Catalant platform. It offers resources, networking opportunities, and events to help members connect, share best practices, and collaborate on client work.
As Director, Practice Community at Catalant Technologies, you will lead the strategic growth and operational scaling of industry practices and functional capabilities across our Independent Consultants community. Positioned at the intersection of community building, strategic execution of the practice community roadmap, and stakeholder enablement, this role is critical in aligning our Independent Consultant communities with evolving client demand.
You will oversee a dynamic portfolio of practices composed of thousands of former executives, former consultants, and thought leaders—driving expert engagement, reusable offering development, and cross-practice collaboration. We are seeking a bold innovator who will reimagine how consulting practices are built and scaled, leveraging AI and digital tools to pioneer new community and delivery models.
This role requires a strategic operator with a strong blend of vision-setting and hands-on execution, capable of building scalable structures and transforming expert engagement into a sustainable competitive advantage for Catalant. A strong emphasis will also be placed on thought leadership development—partnering with Marketing and Independent Consultants from the community to consistently elevate our brand and perspectives in the market.
Location: This role is a hybrid position based in our Boston office.
What you'll do
- Strategic Leadership & Vision
- Drive the execution of Catalant’s strategic roadmap for the Practice Community’s industry practices and capabilities by translating vision into scalable, results-driven initiatives, while overseeing the management of the Practice Community.
- Develop governance models, design principles, and scalable frameworks to support the formation, evolution, and integration of practices.
- Drive cross-practice collaboration to create comprehensive, multi-disciplinary solutions that meet emerging client needs.
- Lead the adoption and integration of AI and digital solutions to improve scalability, knowledge sharing, and community engagement.
- Continuously evaluate emerging technologies to transform how practices operate and deliver client value.
- Community Leadership & Growth:
- Coach and manage an internal team of Practice Managers in onboarding, engaging, and growing high-performing expert communities.
- Identify, appoint, and support senior Practice Leaders from within the expert network to lead specific industry and capability domains.
- Align community talent with client demand by driving continuous engagement, upskilling, and capability mapping.
- Proactively invite and onboard top-tier Independent Consultants—including former executives and senior experts—and ensure smooth integration into the community.
- Operational Excellence & Practice Health
- Oversee expert recruitment strategies to ensure critical mass and depth across each practice.
- Monitor and optimize key performance metrics such as expert satisfaction, engagement levels, proposal win rates, and practice health indicators.
- Serve as a Center of Excellence (CoE) for your domain—supporting strategic client initiatives, team builds, and co-selling opportunities.
- Cultivate deep relationships with community members, acting as a trusted liaison and advocate for their capabilities and contributions.
- Build functional and domain expertise to guide internal teams in effectively leveraging the expert community.
- Offerings, Tools & Services
- Partner cross-functionally to prioritize and launch new products and services that enhance expert community value and client outcomes.
- Guide the development of reusable tools, templates, diagnostics, and other assets that accelerate client delivery and knowledge transfer.
- Events, Thought Leadership & Evangelism
- Represent Catalant at expert events, conferences, and industry forums—amplifying our value proposition to senior professionals.
- Curate and lead strategic in-person and virtual events to foster expert collaboration, community building, and knowledge sharing.
- Plan high-impact conferences in partnership with Marketing for expert participation and define the strategy and ROI for practice-level event engagement.
- Develop and co-create thought leadership with marketing and expert stakeholders—regularly publishing market-leading insights that reflect the expertise of the Catalant community.
- Establish Catalant’s practices as a source of innovative, data-driven perspectives on the future of work and consulting.
What you'll bring
- Experience
- 10+ years in consulting practice management, general management, or senior community/people leadership.
- Proven success in leading and scaling consulting practices, large-scale communities, capabilities, or knowledge-based organizations.
- Familiarity with the management consulting industry and talent ecosystem.
- MBA or advanced degree preferred but not required.
