The Opportunity
We’re looking for a Director of People Operations who thrives in a startup environment and enjoys building alongside strong leadership. This role works in close partnership with the VP of People, serving as a key operator, thought partner, and executor of our people strategy.
You’ll help translate vision into action—building scalable, human-centered people programs while staying deeply connected to the day-to-day employee experience. This role is ideal for someone who loves owning execution, coaching leaders, and helping a People function mature thoughtfully.
Key Responsibilities
People Strategy & Leadership
Develop and execute a people operations strategy aligned with business goals and company values
Act as a strategic and operational extension of the VP of People
Translate company strategy into scalable people programs and policies
Collaborate on prioritization as the company scales—balancing urgency, impact, and resources
Employee Experience & Culture
Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture
Design programs that support engagement, retention, and employee well-being
Oversee onboarding, employee lifecycle processes, and offboarding
Ensure employee feedback is gathered, understood, and acted upon
Performance Management & Development
Partner with the VP of People to design and run performance management cycles
Coach managers on feedback, accountability, and development conversations
Support leadership development initiatives and manager training
Ensure performance practices are consistent, fair, and growth-oriented
Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards
Oversee compensation philosophy, salary bands, and annual review cycles
Manage benefits programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and employee understanding
Partner with Finance and leadership on workforce planning and budgeting
Ensure fair, consistent, and transparent pay practices
Compliance, Policies & Risk Management
Ensure compliance with employment laws while maintaining flexibility
Draft, maintain, and evolve policies that reflect how we actually work
Handle employee relations matters with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment
Partner with the VP of People on risk mitigation and sensitive matters
Systems, Data & Operations
Own HR systems and day-to-day people operations
Surface insights and trends to the VP of People and leadership team
Continuously improve systems and processes to reduce friction
Partner cross-functionally to eliminate silos and increase efficiency
Qualifications
6–10 years of experience in People Operations / HR
Prior experience working closely with senior People leadership (VP or equivalent)
Startup or high-growth experience strongly preferred
Strong execution skills with the ability to zoom out strategically
Sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and high trust-building ability
Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities
