The Opportunity

We’re looking for a Director of People Operations who thrives in a startup environment and enjoys building alongside strong leadership. This role works in close partnership with the VP of People, serving as a key operator, thought partner, and executor of our people strategy.

You’ll help translate vision into action—building scalable, human-centered people programs while staying deeply connected to the day-to-day employee experience. This role is ideal for someone who loves owning execution, coaching leaders, and helping a People function mature thoughtfully.

Key Responsibilities

People Strategy & Leadership

  • Develop and execute a people operations strategy aligned with business goals and company values

  • Act as a strategic and operational extension of the VP of People

  • Translate company strategy into scalable people programs and policies

  • Collaborate on prioritization as the company scales—balancing urgency, impact, and resources

Employee Experience & Culture

  • Champion a positive, inclusive, and high-performing culture

  • Design programs that support engagement, retention, and employee well-being

  • Oversee onboarding, employee lifecycle processes, and offboarding

  • Ensure employee feedback is gathered, understood, and acted upon

Performance Management & Development

  • Partner with the VP of People to design and run performance management cycles

  • Coach managers on feedback, accountability, and development conversations

  • Support leadership development initiatives and manager training

  • Ensure performance practices are consistent, fair, and growth-oriented

Compensation, Benefits & Total Rewards

  • Oversee compensation philosophy, salary bands, and annual review cycles

  • Manage benefits programs to ensure competitiveness, compliance, and employee understanding

  • Partner with Finance and leadership on workforce planning and budgeting

  • Ensure fair, consistent, and transparent pay practices

Compliance, Policies & Risk Management

  • Ensure compliance with employment laws while maintaining flexibility

  • Draft, maintain, and evolve policies that reflect how we actually work

  • Handle employee relations matters with discretion, empathy, and sound judgment

  • Partner with the VP of People on risk mitigation and sensitive matters

Systems, Data & Operations

  • Own HR systems and day-to-day people operations

  • Surface insights and trends to the VP of People and leadership team

  • Continuously improve systems and processes to reduce friction

  • Partner cross-functionally to eliminate silos and increase efficiency

Qualifications

  • 6–10 years of experience in People Operations / HR

  • Prior experience working closely with senior People leadership (VP or equivalent)

  • Startup or high-growth experience strongly preferred

  • Strong execution skills with the ability to zoom out strategically

  • Sound judgment, emotional intelligence, and high trust-building ability

  • Comfortable navigating ambiguity and evolving priorities

Benefits & Perks

  • Competitive salary.

  • Hybrid work arrangement if located in the Phoenix or New York area; otherwise, fully remote. We also meet together in person several times a year.

  • Excellent medical, dental, and vision insurance options, with low-cost premium structures that demonstrate our commitment to offering great value to our employees.

  • 100% company-paid basic life insurance, short-term and long-term disability insurance.

  • 100% paid parental leave upon eligibility.

  • Company equity managed through Carta.

  • 401k with match and 100% vesting upon hire.

  • Flexible PTO in an environment where taking time off to relax or recharge is supported and encouraged.

  • Take time off for holidays—and yes, your birthday counts too. Celebrate, relax, and recharge without thinking twice.

Wealth is an equal opportunity employer and encourages people from all backgrounds to apply. Should you have a disability or special need that requires accommodation, please let us know.

Host to the first telephone call and one of the first general-purpose computers ever put into use, Boston is now a hub for biotechnology, robotics and artificial intelligence — though it’s also home to several B2B software giants. • Funding Landscape: $15.7 billion in venture capital funding in 2024 (Pitchbook)
