National Account Director - HVAC/R

This is a remote role focused on the upper Midwest and Northeast markets.

The Director National Accounts - Climate is the Smart Care leader for our key customers, requiring preventive maintenance, reactive service and project work on HVAC and refrigeration equipment, primarily in the grocery, club warehouse and retail segments. In this dynamic role, you will be responsible for identifying, qualifying, developing, and closing business opportunities while also ensuring customer satisfaction, retention, and growth post-sale.

The Director National Accounts will build strategic, long-lasting, mutually beneficial relationships across customer organizations, driving business by understanding customer needs and aligning Smart Care’s solutions accordingly. This role excels at proactive communication with internal departments and external customers and works cross-functionally across Smart Care and its affiliate companies to ensure customer issues are being addressed and new opportunities are successfully capitalized upon.

To succeed in this position, candidates should have exceptional communication, problem-solving and time management skills, and a track record of consistent results that exceed expectations. Candidates should be resourceful, analytical, adaptable, and organized with the ability to build rapport with customers.

Main Responsibilities

  • Generate >$7M annually in service and project business, paired with service agreements, through strategic and collaborative selling.
  • Develop and execute annual strategic account plans, including growth targets and performance reviews.
  • Proactive and ongoing communication with customers to understand their needs and review existing and new services
  • Navigate complex organizations to build champions and increase internal visibility.
  • Develop trusted relationships across customer organizations, embedding Smart Care into their daily decision-making.
  • Maintain and grow a robust sales pipeline, delivering monthly and annual sales forecasts.
  • Collaborate with Smart Care Operations and Customer Excellence to ensure seamless execution, adherence to customer requirements and service-level agreements.
  • Resolve customer issues through cross-functional coordination and continuous process improvement.
  • Analyze customer maintenance and repair data to uncover insights and growth opportunities.
  • Lead quarterly business reviews to present performance metrics and identify strategic initiatives.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s Degree in Business or related field
  • 3+ years of successful experience in National Account Business Development or other customer-facing roles.
  • Excellent oral and written communications skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills along with a high level of attention to detail
  • Comfort using business intelligence (BI) software to analyze customer trends and needs
  • Effective prioritization and time management with a demonstrated sense of urgency
  • Sales process knowledge with solid negotiation and networking skills
  • Capacity to influence others’ behavior through persuasive presentations, effective customer relationship development, facilitation, training and development
  • Results-oriented, setting and pursuing aggressive goals, demonstrating a strong commitment to organizational success, and leveraging resources to accomplish his/her priorities
  • Adept at grasping, understanding, and articulating divisional/company vision
  • Comfortable managing under pressure and ability to successfully multitask and prioritize
  • Passion to win and motivate a diverse team
  • Ability to travel within region 50+%
  • Experience with Microsoft Office Tools, Sigma a definite plus
