- Play a key role in leading a collaborative and inclusive culture by working closely with Investment Management Operations, Investment Managers, and other Controllers teams
- Manage the monthly reconciliations between the ledger and investment systems for derivatives ensuring the accuracy of the financial statement results as it relates to derivatives
- Oversee the preparation of monthly analytics report and present findings to various stakeholders on a monthly basis
- Responsible for review of footnotes and NAIC Schedule DB to ensure accuracy and timely completion.
- Lead and execute process re-design efforts for derivatives in response to expanding investment strategies and enhance analytics supporting quarterly derivative results
- Support the Investment Office in implementing new hedging strategies and evolving accounting standards. Collaborate with Accounting Policy to ensure that transactions are appropriately reflected in accordance with the applicable GAAP and statutory accounting frameworks
- Partner with the Investment Middle Office to design operational processes within the subledger that support the derivatives accounting and controllership activities
- Execute and oversee processes and controls that support derivative accounting and controllership
- Serve as a point of contact for external auditors on all derivative-related matters
- Perform control functions in compliance with NAIC Model Audit Rule and the Company's internal control structure
- Perform frequent ad hoc analysis and assist with special projects, as requested
The Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree
- 8+ years of progressive experience in Investment Accounting and/or Investment Operations including derivative investments, with a foundational understanding of the upstream processes and impacts to downstream accounting and controllership
- 3+ years of experience in insurance company Investment GAAP combined with Statutory accounting including Schedule DB
- 2+ years of experience as a people leader, responsible for managing direct reports OR 5+ years demonstrating informal leadership by guiding, coaching, and supporting colleagues in their day-to-day work
The Ideal Qualifications:
- Proactive, results-oriented, detail-focused, and deadline-driven, with the ability to work effectively in a team with limited direct supervision
- Strong analytical, written, and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work well in a dynamic and agile environment while leading the team in execution of various priorities and deliverables
- Comfortable operating at both a strategic and hands-on level in an evolving environment
- Experience with different investment types and structures
- Experience with system conversion or subledger implementation
- Able to build and maintain strong working relationships across cross-functional groups
- CPA, CFA, CMA, or equivalent designations
- Experience with Aladdin platform and SQL is a plus
