About This Role 

The Director, Insights and Analytics Lead, is a Therapeutic area facing role, enabling data-driven decisions, and proactively delivering actionable insights.

This position will allow you to shape the Nephrology cross-functional team, a top priority for Biogen North America, laying the groundwork for processes that can be scaled across other brand teams.

This position offers an extraordinary opportunity to innovate and evolve Biogen’s industry-leading portfolio, improving patient outcomes for millions. Responsibilities include insights and analytics, including primary marketing research, secondary analytics, forecasting guidance, and competitive intelligence. The role reports into Senior Director of Decision Sciences and is a core member of the franchise leadership team   

As the key partner to commercial and marketing leadership and a member of the Decision Sciences, you will help identify & address the most important business problems facing the franchise.  The role will leverage the capabilities of the decision sciences hubs such as data science and digital, forecasting and data strategy to synthesize the best-in-class insights. This role will partner directly with North America Leadership team members and Heads of Marketing to proactively communicate risks and opportunities and drive action 

Additionally, this role will lead the development of performance narrative and generation of insights supporting US brand in collaboration with the franchise lead, brand lead, Insights lead and (as appropriate) Global stakeholders. 

What You’ll Do 

  • Lead and manage the relationship with Franchise Leadership Team in support of the insights lead 
  • Drive insights agenda: Scope, lead, and deliver brand  projects across core insights functions, including market research, forecasting support, competitive intelligence, brand analytics, and field analytics 
  • Be a subject matter expert in different areas of Decision sciences such as forecasting, patient analytics, market research ane behavioral science and disrupt the thinking and introspection brand performance 
  • Deliver high quality ad hoc analyses to leadership that offer clear recommendations to drive brand strategy 
  • Proactively provide actionable insights to key stakeholders for both short-term resource allocation decision and long-term strategy development 
  • Collaborating with Advanced Analytics and Orchestration team and other Business Intelligence and Operations (BIO) teams to support initiatives to guide brand execution 
  • Lead Integrated Customer Plan (ICP) and Annual Operating Plan (AOP), and provide commercial team with comprehensive performance, target audience, and market insights to support strategy & resource investment 
  • Cultivate strong relationships and effective ways of working within MS Marketing team  
  • Pursue novel research methodologies that offer new capabilities and ways to optimize project efficiency 
  • Partner effectively with leadership to ensure that key business decisions are based on data/fact-based analysis 
  • Drive innovation in analytics and business execution to have impact on the business performance

  • High Analytical Horsepower / Skillset – High comfort sourcing, manipulating, analyzing and visualizing data; ability to effectively present and defend analyses. Strong ability to use data and research to diagnose issues and test hypotheses for the commercial team. 
  • Project / Deliverable Management Expertise – High proficiency with gathering and synthesizing qualitative and quantitative inputs into synthesized, actionable insights 
  • Advanced Strategic Thinking and innovation– Able to independently design/identify the ideal approach to answering complex business questions pulling from all available internal/external data sources; able to draft synthesized outputs and drive beyond the raw output of the analysis to actionable insights; anticipates the next question(s) from management 
  • Communication – Ability to deliver information & recommendations succinctly in verbal and written communications/deliverables; able to distill complex analyses into meaningful insights and conclusions for executive audiences 
  • High Partner function-Orientation – Acts as a thought partner to marketing, sales and other functional teams 
  • Collaboration – Able to collaborate effectively with various functional partners to probe/ask questions, gather required information for analyses, and participate as a value-added cross-functional partner 
  • Deals Well with Ambiguity / Intensity – Operates well in a fast-paced environment driven by senior leadership requests and evolving business needs 
  • Independence – Able to manage workload with limited guidance; effective managing to expectations and ability to scope/prioritize work with relatively high independence 

Qualifications 

  • Minimum 10 years’ relevant experience with a life sciences company or consulting firm supporting the healthcare industry 
  • Consulting background strongly preferred 
  • MS, Lupus, Neuroscience, Alzheimer’s, Immunology  or Nephrology experience preferred 
  • Solid understanding of commercial business and industry standard datasets – script (IQVIA, Symphony, etc.), Patient (Specialty Pharmacies/Distributors), and Managed Care (Symphony, etc.).

Additional Information

The base compensation range for this role is: $195,000.00-$269,000.00


Base salary offered is determined through an analytical approach utilizing a combination of factors including, but not limited to, relevant skills & experience, job location, and internal equity.

Regular employees are eligible to receive both short term and long-term incentives, including cash bonus and equity incentive opportunities, designed to reward recent achievements and recognize your future potential based on individual, business unit and company performance.
