Director, Indirect Procurement

This role is a hybrid position

Some roles require an office while others may be done remotely. This position is considered hybrid, allowing for a combination of remote work and in-office collaboration. Qualified applicants must live within commuting distance of our Boston or Santa Barbara office and should expect to be in office 2 to 3 days per week in order to collaborate with partners and key stakeholders.

This role will lead and develop a global Indirect Procurement organization. The Director of Indirect Procurement reports to the Senior Vice President of Global Business Services and will be critical in optimizing our substantial corporate spend ($200M+) to ensure operational efficiency and fuel Sonos's continued global growth and innovation. The Director of Indirect Procurement will be responsible for  leading Sourcing, Procurement, and Supplier Relationship Management for all corporate indirect spend, including critical areas like Go-to-Market, IT, Facilities, HR (People), Legal, and Finance.

The Indirect Procurement team manages and optimizes a supplier base of hundreds of external vendors. The Director of Indirect Procurement will drive the strategic optimization of this function by leading the ongoing development and execution of Sonos-wide procurement category strategies, leveraging technology and data analytics to inform decisions, set benchmarking standards, and define measurable performance metrics.

What You’ll Do

  • Bring an operational perspective as well as a long-term strategic view to evaluate the effectiveness of Sonos’ overall Indirect Procurement organization and practices. Create and drive global Indirect Procurement strategy.

  • Work cross functionally and serve as a strategic business partner to executive and functional stakeholders, proactively providing insights and collaborating on solutions that align procurement strategy with broader corporate objectives.

  • Oversee the Indirect Procurement technology roadmap, driving the implementation and optimization of digital tools and systems (e.g., source-to-pay, contract lifecycle management) to maximize efficiency and data integrity.

  • Achieve measurable year-over-year cost savings and efficiency improvements across all indirect spend categories.

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performing global team, defining the long-term talent strategy, structure, and capabilities necessary to support Sonos's growth.

  • Establish and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and vendors, negotiating contracts and ensuring that service levels are met.

  • Develop innovative approaches to sourcing using data, analytics and processes to determine scenarios, benefits, risks and change management impact.

  • Partner with finance, legal and functional stakeholders to prepare, analyze, negotiate and revise various types of contracts.  Manage vendor contract life cycles to prepare for contract renegotiations, extensions or renewals for all functions.

  • Act as the primary point of contact for all executive engagements.

  • Govern and standardize the preparing, issuing, and evaluation of all competitive bid processes, including RFI/RFP requests, to ensure transparency, integrity, and best-value selection.

  • Establish and enforce world-class compliance standards for internal controls, security protocols, and risk management.

  • Collaborate with other departments within the organization, including finance, operations, and legal to ensure that procurement processes are integrated with other business functions.

What You’ll Need

  • 10+ years’ experience in sourcing/procurement/contracting including 5+ years of experience managing a high-performing global or regional team.

  • Knowledge of a broad set of indirect procurement categories including IT services, software contracts and marketing-related services.

  • Qualified applicants must be able to work from our Boston or Santa Barbara office location on a part time basis as needed to perform their function, partner with stakeholders and lead the global team.

Preferred Qualifications
