Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Program Excellence to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business. The Program Excellence team provides strategic and thought leadership to Project, Program, and Portfolio Management for the CMS business area with annual sales of approximately $3B and over 160 program managers. As a Director of Program Excellence, support the Project Management capability for CMS and improve Program Management Processes, Tools, and Measures. The role will report to the Sr. Director of Program Excellence.
  • Because this role involves a combination of collaborative/in-person and independent work, it will take the form of a hybrid work format, with time split between working onsite and remotely (averaging 3 days onsite weekly).
  • For this position, we will consider someone working out of any one of the major Combat Mission Systems locations: York PA, Sterling Heights MI, Louisville KY, or Minneapolis MN.
  • There may be 10% - 25% of travel.

Responsibilities:
  • Partner with the CMS program manager community to provide program management expertise and assist with program planning and execution
  • Provide maintenance to existing program management processes and best practices to meet the needs of the business and to improve and streamline all facets of program management
  • Provide execution support to the deployment of tool sets to automate and/or error proof Program Management administrative tasks
  • Collaborate with functions to support improvements to our business processes and tools
  • Track progress to financial, schedule, technical, and/or new business performance objectives against projects
  • Support continuous improvement of CMS' Integrated Program Management/Business Management System processes
  • Review and analyze Program Management performance trends against industry benchmarks
  • Support cross-sector and BAE Systems, Inc. program management initiatives
  • Support CMS Program Management in Lifecycle Management
  • Support the Program Management function for internal/external audits

Required Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
  • Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
  • Experience in Program Management, including theory, contemporary state of the practice, processes, and tools
  • Experience in leading large, complex technical or operational projects
  • Experience managing program/project performance, cost control, and schedule adherence using Earned Value Management (EVM) principles
  • Experience in Root Cause Analysis and Corrective and Preventative Actions
  • Experience in Change Management
  • Experience in Continuous Improvement
  • Experience in Cross-functional Team environments
  • Ability to execute strategic plans to achieve performance goals
  • Ability to lead cross-functional teams through influence, engagement, and feedback
  • Ability to interface with and present to senior leaders and customers in an accurate, concise, and understandable manner
  • Ability to be agile and manage changing expectations
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Strong presentation skills

Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
  • Master's Degree
  • PM Certification
  • Experience in large Defense (DoD) Contracting programs
  • Significant experience in budgeting and costing
  • Expertise in Earned Value Management (EVM)
  • Contemporary design/development program experience
  • Contemporary stage gate and design review experience

Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
